That's why scanning for unusual option activity
and then seeing if it was a buy or a sell is effective
for small time traders. I wouldn't have picked it up
as I scan for 5000 plus contracts.
But I see this kind of activity several times a week.
Everyone knows it's trades based on inside info most
of the time when it's one sided directionally.
I never hear of SEC running these trades down.
It goes on, over and over, week after week, year
after year.
Certainly some of these are a hedge on a long or
short stock position. But a lot of them are based
on insider intel.
