Instead of French class or Chinese class, kids should learn French cooking or Chinese cuisine.

Spanish class is especially a waste of time.

I disagree because in taking these foreign language classes you also learn a lot about other cultures. And you see there are lots of different ways to live and celebrate. Not just your own.

It helps round you out in a way. Cooking class does not round an individual out, or help them think differently. It just makes them more useful.

Learning how to cook my own chinese with real by the chef recipes is the best thing I've ever done.

Saved money and plenty of dodgy takeaway bad stomachs.

cooking is a waste of time. You can find a lot of products at grocery store already to eat. Moreover food is poison, french and chinese cuisine are the worst. While learning languages and different cultures is good for brain and useful and funny. Expecially for kids.

Mandarin is great for those discounts and business.

There is nothing wrong with being multilingual. Of course, not everyone feels the same way as I do. But I enjoy being able to communicate with other people on my own terms. You get screwed over less if you know the language while you travel.

Second, I home schooled my two daughters and they learned to cook food from many cultures, including Chinese and some French dishes as they learned languages.

You can do both if you set your mind to it.

No I am not in high school. I am 45 and I speak english chinese and Japanese fluently. understand german and watch german film on youtube daily. also speak cantonese if you count that as a language. But I think most people should not take foreign language at school. I was forced to take 3 years of Spanish and I did not remember a thing. Thats because I dont have enough respect for Spanish.

Alex you should go back to University, learn economy and find a proper job as employee or entrepreneurs. Your divination and inventor capabilities are awful and close to a fraud. Basically, you are typing that you don't respect Spanish and were forced to learn it in HS 29 years ago. And now you are protesting because...hate/anger/vengeance/regret?

Do you want to change the school system so that only languages you respect are taught?

Maybe you should join your local public school board and make the changes you seek.

Kids should learn how to be effecient and systematic and only learn the things they need. Not some mumbo jumbo that they learn because its required only to forget everything after they graduated.

I know people that don't remember a damn thing about those subjects...it's evident in their typing. Maybe it was a waste of time to try and educate them? Is this really the educators fault or the fault of the pupil?
