Grace only applies to those who are willing to repent and stop sinning; and with their actions, they prove their intentions to follow CHRIST. But those who continue to live in sin and think that grace covers their sins are utterly deceived. Paul wrote: "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? GOD forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" (Rom 6:1-2) Only those who have repented and have been baptized in water for the remission of sins are under grace, and thus they receive the Holy Spirit of GOD, because they believed and acted on their belief. Sinners, however, are still under the law, and they will be judged by that law and punished by the Maker of the law, the Word of GOD.

If one wants to know if what the op says is correct all we need do is ask God through his Holy Spirit to show us where the area of sin is in our life that we may not even perceive.if we are earnest the spirit will show us that area and we will see whether we really desire that the area of sin be cleansed. I went many years in debating this question , being on the fence of being totally devoted to God or embracing the pleasure of the sin. This debate is real as Paul outlined in Romans ch 7. Like Jacob wrestling with God at the brook where I believe he received and understood grace, we can also understand grace in our own life as it relates to our own sin where we see that we are powerless to fight against it but with God this is possible through his grace

Let me tell you, Abraham willingly sinned when he told Sarah to tell Pharaoh that she wasn't his wife. Yet Abraham's Faith was counted for Righteousness, not his "sinlessness".

The definition you learnt is a false one. It's the definition those who don't want to practice righteousness cling to. It's the very reason why lawlessness now abounds in the Church.

The good things we speak, write and do, through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, is what is called grace.

In referring to the Lord Jesus Christ, Luke wrote: "And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth." [Luke 4:22]

Also regarding grace the Apostle Paul wrote: "But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me." [1 Cor.15:10]

"Nevertheless, brethren, I have written more boldly to you on some points, as reminding you, because of the grace given to me by God..." [Rom.15:15]

"so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." [Rom.5:21] Grace is only evident in our lives if we're diligently practicing righteousness, through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Don't be deceived by the Apostate Church's definition of grace.

Thread: Salvation by Faith, NOT by Works
Every single Christian denomination has allowed error to creep in regarding this point. My own Independent Baptists know salvation is by faith, but even they sometimes try to make it conditional in some way on works. They will say you must be baptised, you must attend church, you must tithe, etc. That is why I distance myself by saying I preach the Bible. I preach Jesus Christ - crucified, risen, and living. And I preach salvation by faith. Sadly, a great many so-called Christian denominations aren't even in simple error. They flatly teach a doctrine of salvation by works, which is heresy. I could name denominations here, but you should be able to see for yourself. If their doctrine says anything other than salvation by faith in the finished work done by Jesus on the cross, they are wrong. And such denominations have no right to call themselves Christian because they deny Christ! They deny His divinity, His word, His right to be called The Son of God if they believe His work was somehow insufficient, that man has to "help" by doing something else. Man is not capable of doing anything aceptable to God until he has been redeemed! Good works follow naturally once the believer receives the Holy Spirit, and are then pleasing to God. Baptism is a public affirmation of faith. It should not be done until the believer is saved, and it is not a condition of salvation - you need not be baptised to be saved.

Ephesians 2:8,9 says: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Those are the words of the Apostle Paul. Throughout his long ministry, Paul was plagued by people he called "Judaizers". In his time, these were converted Jews who believed in Jesus as their Messiah, but were determined to make Gentile Christians follow Jewish laws - a doctrine of faith plus works. The group has changed, the things they insist on have changed, but the doctrine is still heresy.

At this point, I'd like to lift a bit of text from brother Don Koenig of thepropheticyears-dot-com (A site I heartily recommend):

Salvation is not achieved by reciting some words or by the obedience of being baptized in water in the name of Jesus. It is achieved by believing that God is righteous and merciful and gracious to save. It is believing that God provided a Savior for all mankind who trust and believe in Him for their salvation. Believers by confessing Jesus Christ are confessing to the actual meaning of the name of the person that God sent to save them. The name "Jesus Christ" actually means "the anointed Savior of Jehovah" The gospel of John said that God came into the world in the form of a man (Jesus) and the world did not know Him but as many as received Jesus He has given the power to become sons of God (John 1:12). So John said salvation comes by receiving Jesus.

It's not an idea exclusive to the New Testament either. In Genesis we see that Abraham believed God and it was counted to him for righteousness. Noah believed God, followed orders that must have seemed very strange to him, and was saved with his family. Neither of these patriarchs were righteous by their own works. God counted them righteous for their faith. Romans 3:10: There is none righteous, no, not one. That included the patriarchs.

Paul then continues in Romans 3:21-26: But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith in Jesus Christ unto all and upon all that believe; for there is no difference: For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time His righteousness: that He might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. KJV, emphasis mine.

Justification is the act of God, who is the ONLY being with power to declare justification, whereby the status of believers is changed and we are declared righteous, even though we have done nothing, indeed CAN do nothing to earn it. When we express faith in the saving grace of God through Jesus Christ, He forgives our sins and declares us worthy to share eternity with Him in Heaven.

What then of works? Do they have any value? Yes! After you have accepted the salvation of Jesus, then your good works will be acceptable to God and He will reward you in Heaven according to your works. But you must always remember that your works did not earn you a place in Heaven. That attitude is an insult to our Savior!

All "ifs" in Koine Greek (the language of the NT) are conditional sentences and it depends on which condition as to how you translate it.
1st class IF - what is being said is TRUE
2nd class IF - what is being said is NOT TRUE
3rd class IF - what is being said MIGHT BE TRUE BUT DEPENDS ON CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES
4th class IF - what is being said is NOT TRUE but the writer wishes it was.

The grammar of the sentence determines which class "if" is being used.

If you don't know how to look at the original language, parse the grammar and determine which class is being used, you can't just throw out these kinds of sentences and use them as proof for anything.

Salvation and repentance are inseparably linked together and both are the work and gift of God.
Doesn't anybody feel that all these killers should be killed, and all these healers should be healed, so all of these beggars can be filled...

The definition you learnt is a false one. It's the definition those who don't want to practice righteousness cling to. It's the very reason why lawlessness now abounds in the Church.

The good things we speak, write and do, through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, is what is called grace. ----- Who taught you that? Please link to any bible studies ministry that teaches that.

the NARROW path, which is NOT the BROAD path,

who believe that they can ABUSE the Grace
of God and use it as "fire insurance".

Once saved always saved (they believe)!

It is absolutely unbelieveable the immorality
and depravity involved.

Yet both parties think they can live as they
please, ask forgiveness, and that's that!

In referring to the Lord Jesus Christ, Luke wrote: "And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth." [Luke 4:22]

Also regarding grace the Apostle Paul wrote: "But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me." [1 Cor.15:10]

"Nevertheless, brethren, I have written more boldly to you on some points, as reminding you, because of the grace given to me by God..." [Rom.15:15]

"so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." [Rom.5:21] Grace is only evident in our lives if we're diligently practicing righteousness, through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Don't be deceived by the Apostate Church's definition of grace.
