The government can't:

- Impose taxes on the press that is not in effect for other businesses.

- Push journalists to reveal the identities of their sources.

- Prohibit the press from attending judicial proceedings and informing the public about said proceedings.

This is about a new bill being introduced to stop people from publishing information they received, the way the makers of VAXXED did.
If a criminal is taped admitting to his crimes and how they took place and didn't know he was being taped I guess he has more rights than the innocent victims....according to this bill.
I think it protects the criminals.

Update: I live in California and no, we don't all have insane liberal values. I read in the news yesterday that a compromise has been reached on this issue. Are you ready for this? It's great. So, they decided that the PRESS is immune from any prosecution in cases like this. Meaning, whoever took the video (unless it was a journalist) will be subject to prosecution, but any member of the press who published it will not be.

My question: does the press have to reveal their source? I can't keep up with the laws. I thought that info could remain confidential.

No, It's unconstitutional for anyone to press the press about their sources. There are RARE circumstances that allow it, but I doubt that this would be considered one of them.
