My step son is very intelligent, but also different from others. Does horribly in a school setting, and great at home.

Never met Abraham Lincoln, but he was home schooled and turn out well. Both Presidents Roosevelt were home schooled. Most kids were home schooled back when America was still great. My fiance was homeschooled out in the country all the way through 12th grade. She then went on to graduate at a unversity.
