LARGE SC Kansas/NC Oklahoma Earthquake - M 5.8 - 15km NW of Pawnee, Oklahoma; FELT IN 31 STATES & CANADA

Come on out to Oklahoma during sometime between April and August. Low point beer, cheap whiskey, mountain lions, rattlesnakes, tornadoes, earthquakes we got it all and we ain't skeered!

That was crazy. Usually they just last a few seconds. First time I ever contemplated going outside for one. My grandfather clock was stopped and it sounded like it was chiming.

Also what was interesting to me was the depth of the norcal eq, 1.3 miles when I checked.

If you use Google Earth and check the following coordinates:

36 26 00.00 N
96 55 35.00 W

You will be just a thousand feet or so North of the reported epicenter. You will also be looking at an image from February 25, 2014 of what looks like a fracking site that wasn't yet completed/operating at that time, which has obviously been completed since then and in use.

But fracking doesn't cause earthquakes, since we're being told that all the time. Just like the anti-zeka spraying that was done in Florida won't harm any bees...

YEA!!!! We are in Shawnee County and felt it. I was posting here sitting on the couch and was like WTH! Then my daughter called immediately and was did you feel that earthquake from OK!

Yea OP - woke me straight out of bed in South Tulsa. I knew it was bigger than the December quake a couple of years ago. Vastest a long time it seemed.

I felt it too . Just on the north of Ft. Worth. I thought it was one of our famous " Irving fracking quakes" . freaky!

I'm in Northwest Arkansas and it shook here for about thirty seconds. First time I've noticed that much shaking. I thought it was underneath me.

Yeah, heavy of traffic no doubt. The link you provided did get me into the earthquake map page though. Once there, I also noticed that there was a 5.6 on the southern edge of the Cascadia subduction zone last night. [link to earthquake.usgs.gov]

It's going to be one hell of a day

Woke up to a huge jolt in bed and then 2 minutes of rocking.. in western Kansas City. A little scary at first...

Well expect some movement around yellowstone now, it's been sandwiched by two M5.6 events now

Is it just me or did it start out kinda wimpy amd then grow stronger, stayed strong and then taper?

Local news channel 9 is reporting that USGS is warning us to expect more quakes. The reporter said hopefully they are talking about after shocks and not saying that this was a foreshock. That's just comforting.
