Grains in general fuck up your brain and the high carbs lead to dementia and pretty much every major degenerative disease known to man.

Wheat is particularly bad, especially the version introduced in the late 60s that we eat today, which has a much higher gluten content. And just because you're not celiac doesn't mean your not sensitive to it or being made ill from it.

Wheat allergies are even rarer.

A recently published study in the journal Digestion found that 86 percent of individuals who believed they were gluten sensitive could tolerate it. Individuals with celiac disease, a hereditary autoimmune condition that affects about 3 million Americans, or roughly 1 percent of the population, must avoid gluten. Those with extremely rare wheat allergies must also remove gluten from their diet. In addition, those with gluten sensitivity, a condition that affects 6 percent of the population (18 million individuals), should also avoid gluten.


From a JAMA study:

Overall, 106 (0.69%; 95% CI, 0.53%-0.84%) and 213 (1.08%; 95% CI, 0.80%-1.35%) participants were identified as having a diagnosis of celiac disease and adhering to a gluten-free diet without celiac disease, respectively, which corresponds to an estimated 1.76 million and 2.7 million people in the US population (Table). From 2009 through 2014, the prevalence of celiac disease remained stable over time (0.70% in 2009-2010, 0.77% in 2011-2012, and 0.58% in 2013-2014) and among population subgroups, with the exception of a decrease among men. In contrast, adherence to a gluten-free diet without celiac disease has increased significantly overall (0.52% in 2009-2010, 0.99% in 2011-2012, and 1.69% in 2013-2014) and among population subgroups, with the exception of stable trends among nonwhite participants.


That last line was pretty funny - "with the exception of stable trends among nonwhite participants."

Anyway, I guess college students still can't make choices on their own food selections and need safe spaces. Bunch of princesses.

no grains were part of the caveman diet. the flesh of animals caught, eggs cadged from nests, a few fruits, seeds and nuts..... that was it.

grains are the seeds of grasses, I hate to inform you that prehistoric man did not eat grass.....

the rise of agriculture brought grains and vegetables, the least natural foods, to the fore....


and humans lost both height and health....

that was the exchange we made for supporting a larger population....

there isnt anything wrong with gluten, it is the bio engineering which are problematic

many who have probs with gluten dont when they eat wheat products feom other countries, like european countries which dont have frankenwheat.

The wheat today is not Monsanto GMO wheat. It is GMO but via the Mendel process of selective breeding. and it is toxic to humans. About 15 years ago the short variety was introduced to the US, and thats when the shit hit the fan, literally.

No, I don't have all the answers, I do not know all the connections.

The positive results for us are real.. No fad.

Exactly, maybe the problem isn't that wheat gluten has changed, maybe the problem is that the human body and how it processes the wheat and gluten has changed. Maybe through vaccinations the ptb have altered our internals instead of the other way around.

Wheat allergies and gluten allergies are on the rise.

I have eaten bread all my life and have never had allergies,
until this year...

It contributes to leaky gut, which causes more allergies,
which contributes to worse leaky gut....

yeah....the short stuff, that is what people have been saying is the problem. it was bio-engineered here in the usa, so wheat corps or a portion therof wldnt be lost in storms (from what im hearing that was the impetus for the short variety development).....theyndont have this short wheat in europe, so thats why people dont have problems when they go there ir buy stuff from there.

thought the introduction of this short wheat was a few decades ago tho? maybe it became widespread / all of wheat produced in the usa 15 years ago?

I love to bake. have had several baking threads on here.

people who have problems here say they dont when they go overseas.

whole foods has some bread products made in france, prepackaged found in the bakery section...maybe try that and see if you are okay?

I love me some bread but unfortunately it wrecks your gut all to hell and causes some pretty nasty inflammation in nearly every human. Blame the fact that we are basically the same build as our 30,000 year old ancestors. We have evolved technologically and mentally but we haven't quite caught up physically. Now, even with that said... the wood fired sourdough is FARRRRRRRR better than the nutrient stripped white bread you get at the store.

You are talking gluten product alternatives which, hell yeah, it's gross. I have come to the point where i eat grains sparingly. The bad comes from eating something over a long length of time. I personally still will have a sub here and there or a dagwood. I fucking love bread... it just doesn't love me lol.

The problem is not the gluten....the problem is the GMO wheat and the chemicals being sprayed on it.

almost everyone is now saying it is the short wheat and not the gluten itself.

what i have read and heard is that short wheat started in the 1970s - 80s in the usa. we are apparently the only country growing this kind of wheat which is why people arent having problems when they visit europe.

Almost everything I eat is gluten free - except bulghur and barley ...

What has gluten except some flour/grains? Nothing.

The whole thing is crazy. People buying gluten-free meat. All meat is gluten free.

Edit: I get it as a cook - you love to bake, and there's flour involved.

I cut that out entirely - no flour, no added sugar.

Gluten isn't an issue then.

we can barely get any grains in the US that are not GMO. That's the problem...it causes havoc on many peoples guts. May not be the same in other countries so they cant tolerate grains.
I didnt read through the article...Is it the only cafeteria? I mean can the kids go across the street and get pizza and breadsticks? i mean..its not the only place to eat, right, so who gives a fuck if they have a gluten free option.
