(BTW: not thrilled with Repubs either. Found out that they are the ones who voted to help/encourage US companies to send their jobs overseas- but that's another thread).

All in the Family and the other Norman Leer sitcoms were actually mini Broadway plays. All in the family being the best of the lot. Each episode being better than most of the Broadway dramas. Even though it was presented as Comedy, the are all actually mini death of a salesman level drama.
