I just figure I'm a chip off the ol' block and my ancestors spread their seed far and wide. Must have been a planter with sons back there somewhere

Only 4 percent of people with European decent will have sub-Saharan results. This test only goes back 400 to 500 years, or 6 generations. Blows the "out of Africa" theory

I took that test. And then about 10 people in my extended family followed. My cousins 2 daughters were the only ones that got that sub Saharan African result. Their father was Italian so it made sense.

My uncle did the ancestrydna one, he did not get anything in Africa, as should be expected for what we know of that side of the family. For the most part, my uncle's results were exactly what we expected to see.

I'm still waiting for someone on the other side of the family to take one of the tests, though, since an ancestor on that side came from the Azores and there could be something weird via that. I wouldn't be surprised to see some kind of African in those results.

I want to take one of the DNA tests, but there are many to choose from. Has anyone researched these and have a recommendation?

Well if you go back 6 generations you have 64 grandparents. Probably means 1 of them was black. Is that significant?
