A question for the People of Oz, and the Kiwi's too, or anybody, anywhere. Are there lots of small birds where you live?

Do you have the normal amount of small birds flying around the trees, sitting on the wires, or whatever small birds do? Is there a sharp decrease?

I just drove to town, about 10 miles, and I saw TWO small birds. I saw two crows, or maybe it was the same crow I saw twice, walking beside the highway , and nothing else. Nothing. And I don't live in NYC. I live in a rural area of Arkansas. 5 years ago, this place was covered with birds of all types.

In the country side, there are trees everywhere that are covered with bagworms and I can't help but think that the birds should be eating those worms.

Whatever country you live in, is there a change in the number of small birds, or even all birds in general?

I'm in Queensland. Heaps of Finches and Pigeons around the house and can hear many other types of birds going off every morning. Sounds normal.

Maybe it's because the Fuckushima radiation doesn't get to the Southern Hemisphere?
Thanks for your answer.

Well I hope so for my sake.

The nature here is abundant! business as usual. the amount of frogs has gotten insane with all the rainfall we've had, they're playing their own orchestra

It would be nice if some other areas would chime in.

Rural western Australia here. There was a decrease 3-4 years ago in small birds around our property but they've sprung back quite well, lots of finches, bush pigeon, robins & wrens. And the crows! So many crows.

May i ask why you're asking OP? How does what's happening here relate to you in the states?
