Under fascist corporatism, sectors of the economy were divided into corporate groups, whose activities and interactions were managed and coordinated by the government. The idea was to split the difference between socialism and laissez faire capitalism, letting the state control and direct the economy from the top-down without itself owning the means of production. Ignoring the grand theoretical arguments, Trump's attitudes towards civil rights, due process and international law is totalitarian in flavor and deeply troubling to those of us who are acquainted with authoritarianism as it has manifested in several historical epochs. Hillary is a nightmare candidate as well, don't get me wrong. She is duplicitous in the extreme and the best I can say about Trump is at least he spells out in plain detail his profound ignorance every time he extemporaneously shares his primitive thought processes. These are very disturbing times to be a citizen of this country. |
