Can I just complain about something totally not Doom related for a minute?

This is a review I wrote about an absolutely horrific experience I recently had at a local gym. You probably won't read it but I'll post it anyway.



My back was injured. I began coming here after recovering enough that I could walk so I could find relief in the hot tub and pool. I came every day for a month. I started slow, only spending an hour or two at first, but every day I got a little stronger and I could swim a little longer. I would alternate between the pool and hot tub. The hot and cold therapy along with the weightlessness of the pool provided me the first relief that I had in several months and allowed me to work out my back muscles. By the end of the month, I was seeing and feeling improvement.

I had worked up to the point where I was able to last about 6 to 7 hours. I figured that this was way better than sitting on the couch. There is a "ledge" area that separates the pool and hot tub, no one needs to walk there and I was out of the way. I used it to stretch my back and work out my arms and legs while laying on my back. I would do this until I couldn't stand the pain and get back into the hot tub and heat up before swimming more laps.

Things were going really well, my health was improving and I was for the first time in months starting to feel optimistic about my recovery.

There is a morning class held for aerobic pool workouts, I had been invited to join several times, but there is a group of older ladies who I could already tell did not like my presence. I really don't know why perhaps it was territorial?
The morning of 9/14/16 I was having my usual pleasant conversation with one particular elder lady who I sang happy birthday to that morning, somehow I got into a political conversation with a different lady and we disagreed on everything. Oh well right? I guess not!

I soon found myself being literally ganged up on by several ladies in the pool who demanded that I cease working out and that I was in the way. I purposely had declined previous invitations to join in their exercise class for this very reason. I was not in their way, I was doing my back exercise on the ledge. One woman (the leader) of this gang, continued to harass me with a grin on her face. Stubbornly I refused to be ran off, and I asked her repeatedly to just leave me alone. She persisted in her attacks against me, saying horrible things about my body, character and even disparaged my workout as "not even being a real workout". Sorry, it is the best I can do and at one point I put my hands together and literally begged her to leave me be! Eventually, their class was over and they all left and I continued on and didn't give it another thought.

The next morning I arrived at 5 AM to do it all over again. This was 9/15/16. I did the hot tub and back workout routine and then began to swim laps. While swimming laps I discovered that there was stuff floating in the water. it was vomit and or feces and it was all over me. I started trying to warn people, I let the woman at the counter know and rather than close down the pool on the spot, she allowed people to continue to get into it. I was horrified by this and decided that I would take my business elsewhere, some place that takes seriously the health and safety of their customers.

When I told the woman that I wanted to cancel and that I wanted a refund, she very rudely threw a paper at me that said that my membership was revoked! I mistakenly believed that my membership had been revoked as a result of that morning's situation, but what I have found out is that what really happened was that the elder woman who had harassed me the day before had lodged a false complaint against me along with her friends and slandered me with libelous accusations and that this is the cause of my membership being revoked!

It's like the Twilight Zone guys! Just crazy.

I just hope they don't fraudulently continue to charge me like half of the other people who have left reviews here have claimed.

Be careful of this place people. There is something really weird about Highline Athletic Club in Burien, Washington.
