MORE pipe bombs found Elizabeth NJ train station

something else to consider. this is all a planned out series of events, Its UN week in NYC. So now we have already stressed, very high threat events with the addition of an attack.

Another point now the public is going to be calling in every left bag, box, or anything remotely suspicious causing them to have to send units to dozens or hundreds of false calls when they already have the major security concerns.

So now we have tired, stressed, worn out first responders with public going to be calling in more suspicious items than normal during one of the highest security events of the year.

Too me that sounds like a perfect storm for mistakes to happen, something be missed, and something going to happen.

Rush hour bombings

Yup. All good points.

3 or 4 small, but in strategic places, explosions right at the beginning of rush hour would cause rush hour chaos for the entire NYC metro complex.

Looks to me like the person is more interested in creating chaos than in creating death ... and if that is correct look for MULTIPLE small bombs in key traffic corridor locations. (rail, pedestrian, transfer points, etc.)

Chelsea Elizabeth ?????

The Bayway refinery is about 4 miles from the Elizabeth train station. You would have to get off the Turnpike and drive about 4 - 5 miles to get to the train station....It just doesn't make sense.

At one time, Elizabeth was a pretty nice, fair sized city. That was 50 years ago. I lived there when I was a child and worked there in the early 80's. Now, if you only speak English, you have a major issue communicating as it is about 65% Hispanic. At one time it had a large Italian, Irish and Jewish population. For that reason, I don't understand what the point of a bomb there would accomplish. Not many commuters into the city originate there - it would make more sense to place a bomb in Newark or Jersey City

ELIZABETH, NJ – Police and emergency responders have shutdown train service at the main train station at Broad Street due to a suspicious package found under the nearby bridge tonight, September 18, according to Breaking News Network.

The device is being reported as a possible pipe bomb but has not been confirmed at this time.

Not sure a pipe bomb would do much damage under a bridge like that. Looks pretty solid. I agree with the poster suggesting it looks gear mostly towards creating chaos/disruption. Or it's nothing and everyone is just on edge and calling everything suspicious in.

Newark and Jersey City are probably crawling with feds right now and are under major surveillance. The suspect's probably don't feel safe planting anything in those towns.

Did they say what type of bombs they were? Gunpowder? C4? Antimatter?

I understand the worldwide network of terrorists is, for tactical reasons, trying to remain as dispersed and non-transitory as possible. The fanatics running groups like ISIS apparently are starting to realize that it's best for their recruits and sympathizers to avoid traveling back and forth from the Middle East, avoid communicating and organizing with one another, or doing anything else that makes them stand out and more easily targeted by law enforcement.

So jihadists may now be less well trained in and therefore more inept in the act of terrorism. That may explain all the bombs that are ending up as duds or the un-slick way they've been placed in New York or elsewhere. Or lone wolves using knives or guns to kill and maim in shopping centers, on trains or in nightclubs.

These aren't the extremely well-orchestrated brigade of 9-11, much less terrorists with access to dirty bombs, much less suitcase nuke bombs.

Actually half of nyc buys furniture at that Ikea in Elizabeth. There are shuttle buses that go there on the weekends and special shipping to nyc

And they arrested 5 people on the belt parkway by the Verrazano bridge. It's thought they were going to the airport.

If they were driving towards the bridge they were going to newark and if they were driving away from the bridge they were going to jfk

So it was in a garbage can on the platform not under the bridge until some guys had taken the package and realized holy shot and dropped it.
