Short-term if you feel compelled to “upgrade” to windows 10, use non-traditional search engines then abandon Microsoft for Linux or the new rebirth of AmigaDOS version 4.1. There will be a learning curve however, it is time to hit Microsoft in the wallet until they squeal in financial pain.

Yeah I turned off windows 10 updates a long time ago.
They cannot do anything I don't want them too, only the lazy and ignorant will be caught by traps like that one.

Linux Mint Rocks. As a casual user, (not a geek), I was using Windows7, and after a year of ignoring nags for 10, I decided to give it a try. Ran it for about a week, and running Ccleaner noticed that files for delete were way larger, especially windows error reporting. HD chatter was almost constant. Down-installed back to 7, and noticed that error reporting was still way larger than before the upgrade. I think MS left some changes on my machine. I had tried Linux way back in the Red Hat days, too steep of a learning curve for me, so I left it. Wanted to try Linux again, read abit about mint 18, and put it live on a flash drive. Liked it, not much different than windows, small learning curve, really hardly any--so decided to run it along side of Win7, another install option--more memory and functionality that way. Ran that way a month, continued to really like, so made the decision to purge MS. Ran a fresh mint18 install and MS is now history. Great OS. I don't game, so that wasn't a issue. My computer went from HD clatter all the time, along with fan running to much, to totally quite, and running smooth as silk. No nags, no hi-jacks, just nice. It gives a choice of updates listed as from beginner to experienced, so a newbi can easily keep from harming the system. I've also read there is no need to defrag, or even run virus. They do have there own Ccleaner type program (bleachbit) in their very nice software package. I am way happy about the change.
