Before the lottery and before the volunteer military, all American males over 18 were subject to the draft. There wasn't a get out of service because your father made a certain amount of money. Besides any draftee at that time could have shown up in pink lacy panties for physical and say, "I like boys," and get an instant deferment.

On top of that one could join the Navy or the Air force or National Guard with much less chance of being directly in harm's way. Or go to college. There was even a married with children deferment.

In addition, no one gave a shit if you avoided the draft or didn't serve. The poor, as in young men with little education and no real clue to what was going on, and no guidance were easily swept up in the draft.

Trump's deferment was because he was in college, not because he was rich. My husband was deferred for the very same reason; he was in college. My husband didn't have a rich daddy!

Three years after graduating from college, my husband got his draft notice in 1968, at the age of 25, and had to serve. Every guy in his US Army basic and AIT class, who graduated from college, were the about the same age. So, it showed that they all received their draft notice at least three+ years after graduating college.

After Trump graduated from college, in May of 1968, the Vietnam War was winding down. They were cutting down on drafting men. The draft was just about over, so Trump was not drafted! My husband is FOUR years older than Trump. Do the math, or can't you figure that out? You can learn all about the draft in the article below. Again...do the math!

Besides, I'll bet that 99% of men drafted during the Vietnam War would have done everything to get out of it if they could. Those damn Democrats had our men killed and wounded in a war that was fought in the jungles of Vietnam. Our guys didn't have a chance! The ones who came home arrived without limbs.
