Food prices have fallen for nine straight months in the U.S. It’s the longest streak of food deflation since 1960." Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69646993 [link to www.bloomberg.com] I pay $4.5 a dozen for pasture fed organic eggs, I don't eat them often because I a mostly vegan. I own an organic wholesale co. All my food prices have gone up at least 25% my Brazil nuts doubled. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69646993 [link to www.bloomberg.com] Ive been able to buy a dozen eggs from Walgreens, yes Walgreens, not Walmart, for years during their sales and specials. Meant to say for for 99 cents or a 1.00. It pays to shop around I don't really shop at Walmart but they don't have sales do they? I mean just "everyday low prices", right? I am hitting Aldi today. I can budget very well. I've also shopped at Walgreens. I just don't think Walmart is that cheap for groceries. I go where the sales are. |

Quoting: Deplorable Michele B Eggs are very cheap tho, so I guess it's hit or miss. Overall, I spend waaay more on groceries than ever. I spend at least $300 every 2 weeks for 2 people (a cart full). That same amount used to cost me about $150 not that many years ago.. It's Bloomberg...take it with a grain of salt. They're attempting to convince you things are not as bad as they are and/or make you think you're the only one who thinks things are worse than they really are. Obviously, prices are going up. |

Why do you think people were so skinny. Food was expensive. |

That same amount used to cost me about $150 not that many years ago.. What the hell are you eating??? To save for my house loan I had to survive on $50 a week food. It wasn't great but and I recommend using the crock pot a lot; but from skillet meals to the occasional steak I don't think I was eating that terribly. Ok, I might also be lucky in that I don't really need to eat a lot of "fancy" foods - skillet meal plus frozen vegetables on the side, I really like that. But wow, $300 for food for 2 people. It must be quite interesting dining that you have. Also, that damn $50 didn't include toilet paper, kitchen towels, shampoo and conditioner. Whenever that came up it was always a "less than pleasant" 2 weeks. |

truthseeker314 User ID: 72857927 United States 09/27/2016 10:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I own a grocery store this is grossly misleading. There was a bird flu last year which caused the price of eggs to skyrocket. This year it dropped back down to normal range. Meat products, however have skyrocked as usual. We believe the price of meat will continue to rise as they add regulations and other costs to the process. Soon meat will be as high as it is over in europe. This is not a guess this is a fact. Food will continue to rise in the upcoming year. In fact in my store the only thing that came down in price this year was eggs lol. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72069981 This! truthseeker314 |

The gov is going to say that eggs offset the rise in meat and there is no inflation. I don't have the time or the crayons to explain this to you. Slake Blake |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69646993 [link to www.bloomberg.com] The egg hike was the result of the bird flu and several laying flocks being destroyed because of it. Fortunately, it only takes about six months to repopulate laying flocks. That was the reason for the hike and the subsequent fall in prices back to pre flu levels. |

Even then, I'm continually having to cut out buying some items because they have become outrageously expensive. In Canada our food costs, gasoline costs, hydro & buying homes are 1.5 times higher than the US. More & more peeps here now using food banks to get by. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 72835361 United States 09/27/2016 10:38 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Seriously, op is right. For the past month I have seen meat, dairy and produce prices drop drastically. I'm in New Jersey and before August you couldn't get any cut of beef for under $4.99 a pound and for the past month Shop Rite has been running weekly sales with beef averaging $2.49 for the tougher cuts to $4.99 for NY strip. Chicken has also decreased, this week you can get from thighs at .99 a lb to boneless skinless breast for $2.49 so food prices are deflating in the NE states. |

You pay the slaughter cost and the farmer, and cut out the middle man. Should save you a couple of dollars a pound. Oh, and invest in a freezer. |

"The fundamental question of our time is whether the West has the will to survive. ... Our own fight for the West does not begin on the battlefield — it begins with our minds, our wills, and our souls... Americans, Poles, and the nations of Europe value individual freedom and sovereignty. We must work together to counter forces, whether they come from inside or out, from the South or the East, that threaten over time to undermine these values and to erase the bonds of culture, faith and tradition that make us who we are. I am here today not just to visit an old ally, but to hold it up as an example for others who seek freedom and who wish to summon the courage and the will to defend our civilization." ~President Donald J Trump "...sometimes, you have to be a high-riding bitch to survive. Sometimes, being a bitch is all a woman has to hang onto." ~Vera Donovan "Pain or damage don't end the world, or despair or fucking beatings. The world ends when you're dead.
