In my experience cure is impossible because the patients do not believe they are in the wrong. It is everyone else causing their problems and who are out to get them. They can not, will not see that they need help. Good luck with that one. IMHO it is one of the most difficult. |

Skittish User ID: 182534 United States 01/17/2007 10:13 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | After knowing a couple of individuals with this disorder, I am very skittish about having contact with anyone else with it. Both of them lavished me with gifts and attention and vowed I was their idol. Then, without cause, lambsted me publicly as the scum of the earth. Their accusations were totally delusional. If you suffer from this malady here is some information: People with BPD often have highly unstable patterns of social relationships. While they can develop intense but stormy attachments, their attitudes towards family, friends, and loved ones may suddenly shift from idealization (great admiration and love) to devaluation (intense anger and dislike). Thus, they may form an immediate attachment and idealize the other person, but when a slight separation or conflict occurs, they switch unexpectedly to the other extreme and angrily accuse the other person of not caring for them at all. Even with family members, individuals with BPD are highly sensitive to rejection, reacting with anger and distress to such mild separations as a vacation, a business trip, or a sudden change in plans. These fears of abandonment seem to be related to difficulties feeling emotionally connected to important persons when they are physically absent, leaving the individual with BPD feeling lost and perhaps worthless. <snip> Patients often need extensive mental health services, and they account for 20 percent of psychiatric hospitalizations. With help, however, many will improve over time and are eventually able to lead productive lives. [link to mentalhelp.net] |

There are many different types of Personality Disorders. Both males and females can have any one of them. People with Antisocial Personality Disorder are known as sociopaths, or psychopaths. People with Borderline Personality Disorder manifest different behaviours than those with Antisocial Personality Disorder (i.e. different diagnostic criteria). However, if you are able, you would do well to steer clear of ANYONE who has either of these two particular Personality Disorders - they will wreck your life. |

Anonymous Coward 01/06/2012 07:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It comes from not feeling loved and not trusting anyone. Once you understand how much God loves you and that you can trust him with your life, then the disorder will disappear. Personally, I believe it's based on a healthy mistrust of humans. Jesus had a healthy mistrust of humans because he knew how fickle they were. He only entrusted them with some knowledge and didn't get too intimate with any of them. Smart man. My cat has a healthy mistrust of humans, too. She was spayed but she still has one ovary (it's a long story) so she still has her cat senses. Most animals whose senses are intact (i.e., they haven't been spayed or neutered so they still have their hormones) have a healthy fear of humans. It only becomes a disorder when it isn't balanced with the knowledge of God's love and protection. Animals have that in spades. We call it 'animal instinct', but it's really just the animals being totally obedient to God's voice, because they trust him implicitly. |
Anonymous Coward 01/06/2012 07:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | People put their love and trust into the wrong people, and get hurt. If they get hurt enough, they get screwed up. That's a normal response. Loony people are just honestly expressing what it feels like to be screwed up. Moral of the story is: don't put your love and trust in the wrong people. Humans are NOTORIOUSLY fickle. My advice is to steer clear of loving and trusting humans too much. You can love them and trust them as much as you need to, but don't put all of your love and trust eggs into a human basket. AND DON'T PUT IT INTO YOUR OWN BASKET, EITHER. Put all of your love and trust eggs into God's basket. He will never, ever let you down, and he will return your love to such an extent that you will just about die with joy. That's a promise and that's the truth. I know because I have been on both sides of this fence. Love, Just Another Loony Person |
