I think a garden igloo would be neat. Herbs and plants around the side and a circle of soil in the middle, with some hanging plants and even shelves of plants.

Or just leave the middle for a sprinkler system. A lush haze.

organic garden did not do well this year, it was too big and didn't have time to pull the weeds.

On meat, it's a better situation. I have butchered 4 turkeys and 18 cornish cross chickens this year, and hope to have some deer in the freezer soon.

I'm sorry to hear that. Are you planning to try again?

Thanks

Yeah, I'm going to go a little smaller, and try some in straw bales, I've been reading good things about that method for some veggies.

We do have a good farmers market in our small town, so I was able to get a lot of green beans and corn to can.

Why do you feel it is important to do it?

We like to know where our food comes from, and grow it organically. While the grocery stores have increased their organic produce in my area the past few years, the prices aren't cheap.

Plus, if I have a supply from garden and meat, that's less dependence on anyone/anything else, and it enables better self-sufficiency.
