Earth worms suiciding on my drive way.

Drought? In NC? Don't you all have Biblical flooding there right now from the hurricane?

That is on the coast, I'm in the mountains. Water restrictions begin in my county on Monday.

You guys didn't get any residual precipitation from that huge storm?

Maybe about a half inch over a week ago.Did have some wind last weekend but that was about it.

Earthworms are nocturnal.

When it rains some species come up for hanky panky and some of them die of exhaustion.

Some species use the rain to help them migrate to other areas where the soil is more nutritious. They hear the vibration of the water on the surface and realise that this might be a good opportunity to leave for greener grass.

Oh I see.

That's just it, we have not had any rain to speak of. I'm 63 years old and have never seen anything like this. I wonder if there is some kind of vibration in our area that is mimicking the rain? I am unaware of such a vibration in our area.

One time I had a really small kiddie pool on the grass.. Well one day we made it a big bubble pool..

When I poured it out.. HOLY CRAP, hundreds of worms came to the surface and died. it was unreal..

No, no water or rain in the past week.
