Otherwise, just make sure you either cover it yourself immediately, or better yet, put it into a plastic bag and put in outside trash. If the litter is flushable, just flush it away as soon as you smell it. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 46880720 United States 10/16/2016 08:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Lol all cats have their personalities, it's unusual that he refuses to bury his shit, but you just got a cat that has that mod. Quoting: Bird Of Flame 71621451 Don't feel bad, my cat will jump in his litter box and pee outside of it like a fucking Moran. I had a cat that did that when it got older. I bought one of those large litter boxes with a lid that they have to climb down into and it solved the problem, thank god. This one to be exact. It worked great. Clevercat top entry litter box. Litter aversion Your cat might have an aversion to the litter.... 2. Size of the box Simply put, bigger cats will need a bigger box. A large cat may feel too confined in their box, so moving up in size to a larger box may help. 3. Location Where you place the litter box can be very important for some cats. This is because some cats prefer the litter box to be more private.... [link to www.petsbest.com (secure)] |

He follows me into the bathroom and craps on the floor while I'm doing my business. He DOES pee in the box though. Thank God! We've tried EVERYTHING, and finally just accepted this behavior. Other than this he's a sweet, gentle moose, with a coat so long it drags on the ground, a lion's mane, and pretty as can be. He never claws the furniture and he's a GREAT mouser so sometimes you just have to live with another's idiosyncracies. That's what my wife tells me. |

He's 3 and was a shelter adoption. No issues with him aside from the fact he refuses to bury his poo. And that stench would take the varnish off a foot locker. I've had him checked and he's perfectly healthy. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71636087 Any idea's WHY he's not burying his crap? That's why he hired you! |

The little booger scratches the wall next to the box for a few min instead of covering it. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72226807 YES!!...he does the same thing. Then jumps out and runs around the house like he took a hit of crack. I think mine is the same breed as yours and she does the same thing. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 72387611 United States 10/16/2016 08:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My cat does the same disgusting thing - refuses to bury it. I read somewhere it's a sign that he's unhappy and not afraid of me. More or less I'm the lesser species to him bc I'm covering his shit for him Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69000382 You could have just scooped it in that same amount of time, nasty ho. |

Scoop your litter box after he craps and you shouldn't have an issue anyway. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72387611 Yes but the point is I don't know he's done the deed until the stench hits the upstairs boxes are in the basement. Seems like I'm not the only one, thanks for everyone who responded, just gonna have to deal with it I guess. |

OldWhiteGuy User ID: 56380478 United States 10/16/2016 08:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just buy an automatic litter box. When the cat enters the box, it breaks a beam, then when he leaves, the box rakes itself and scoops the poo into a little bag and seals it up. They work great. We've been using one for years. No more stinky poo. [link to www.walmart.com (secure)] Get over it or die mad. |

The other cat won't do it for him either not that I'd expect him to, but still, there are times I can smell it upstairs as the boxes are down in the basement. It's like a combo of bad parmesan and blue cheese. Gag-worthy indeed. Expecting a ton of shitty responses for this post, but seriously, any input or your own experience is appreciated. If you haven't, add a 2nd litter box away from the other box.. I have read that regardless of the size of the box 2 cats prefer and do better with the ability to use 2 litter boxes. |

I would never use the clay type litter or the new fake, "litter light" with very tiny plastic balls mixed with the sand. Just my opinion but the sand-like litter is the only way to go... |

If you had him declawed that could be a reason, or the litter is to fine or course. Cats that have been declawed receive pain from digging in course litter. |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 71636087 United States 10/16/2016 10:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Apparently an alpha personality cat (top cat) will not cover their poop. It's one of their ways of showing who is top cat. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73101629 And the top cat is not you. I believe this is the reason. While I have no scientific proof, the fact he tries to dominate the other male cat in the house with wrestling, biting, pouncing, and he doesn't always win, letting his crap get air time to say "mine stinks worse" would not surprise me and makes sense. |
