I can assure you they have already started an investigation of this asshole. At the very least he will lose his job and any accumulated benefits. Criminal prosecution for willful destruction of the US mail is also not only possible, but very likely. Probably no jail time - but at least a fine and criminal record will result. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73058785 I'd like to believe you, but we've been fucked by every arm and extension of the federal government for so long that I almost feel it's just as likely the guy will get an addaboy from his liberal/leftist superiors. After all, when it comes right down to it, the right advocates for wealth to flow into the private sector while the left advocates for wealth to flow into the public sector. The mail service is part of the public sector. Federal employees watch each others backs. I don't see anything bad happening to this guy and in fact I see lots of copycats doing the same thing. I wouldn't even be surprised if this sort of thing was advocated on a systematic, institutional level with orders coming from the top. I'm suppose to believe there's some honor or credo within the USPS that would keep this sort of thing from happening? We're living in an age where many believe the Constitution is just a piece of paper, where the |

The perp's personal vehicle had been parked on postal property all day long with his loaded .45 inside. The Inspector witnessed him getting into his vehicle and exiting federal property and immediately followed him out. The other Inspector [along with a local cop] was waiting outside with the gate in sight and followed the other two cars to a local highway where the perp was pulled over. I didn't hear all the details of the arrest, but I believe it was the local cop who searched the perp's truck and found the gun. This ALONE warranted an arrest due to carrying a concealed weapon [this was long before conceal/carry laws became common]. The Inspector was able to elevate the charges by testifying that the gun was present on federal property. I heard afterward that a search warrant was issued to search the perp's house for other possible stolen mail -and trust me: if a USPS Inspector requests a warrant, he gets one with no questions asked. They must have found more evidence because the guy DID do time [he should still be in jail, come to think about it]. When I asked one of the Inspectors about it later he didn't say much, but did state the guy was a bit of a nutjob who had a lot of SOLDIER OF FORTUNE mercenary-type material as well as a big collection of fantasy knives plus a few more guns. As far as actual stolen mail is concerned, the Inspector wouldn't say - but added the DVD's were enough to convict already. Sometimes, the system ACTUALLY works. That's the totality of what I know about this particular case. Can we get back to the thread now? Wow, that's quit a story. it just keeps getting better and better. However, Here's how I think it really went down. Ive been working here as a postal clerk for years and sure would like to be promoted to postal inspector. Only problem is this new guy they hired is getting special treatment because he's a VETERAN and has military experience and they are gonna promote him for the job I just know it. And I don't like the way my wife looks at him when she comes to pick me up from work since I lost my license for drunk driving. I know what, I'll set this guy up. All those DVD's that were not claimed and we are going to throw in the dumpster, I'll tell him he can just take them home and tell the postal inspector that he is bringing a gun to work and that I'm scared. Then you tell to don't forget those DVD's i pilled for you there in the corner. He say's he thanks man you have a good day. Then you inform the postal inspector that he is getting ready to leave so get ready to pull him over., The guns in his glove box so be carefull. Then you call your wife and say , hey they finally busted thay crazy Vet for stealing mail and carrying a weapon. Looks like I'm gonna get that promotion after all. Get ready for a big vacation this summer. NOW that's what really happened isn't it? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 73151800 United States 10/17/2016 06:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 73151800: Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73058785 One last time and then I'm finished with you. FACT: United States Postal Service Inspectors are the ONLY federal law-enforcement agents with global jurisdiction. WHY? Because -barring very few nations such as N Korea- US mail is delivered worldwide. While FBI agents have only domestic authority, USPS Inspectors can arrest someone in Singapore, if needed. They always work in tandem with their foreign counterparts, but they do have jurisdiction and can nearly always acquire extradition. This cooperation was all hammered out through the efforts of the International Postal Union - which is a form of postal UN. I would also like to point out that while USPS Inspectors train at the same facilities as the FBI in Quanitco, postal inspectors have a much high conviction rate than any other federal law enforcement agents. Better think TWICE before you fuck with the mail on a grand scale. Because -even though the Inspection Service has been hit with Obama's cutbacks like everyone else- you will get caught if the crime is big enough to warrant their attention, whether you are in Oxnard or Adelaide. I'm thinking thy will make an example of this fucker just to grandstand. Not that the need to. ok you win the first part but gun was found while not on postal property so no gun crime. or INSTANT PROSECUTION. Whatever you mean by that. Did they shoot him right there on the spot? Yea so what they found a gun in vehicle, Everyone has a right to keep bear arms!! GESH! Postal vehicle is Federal property and he was a Federal employee. Was in his personal vehicle off duty and no on postal property. kinda like in your avatar. |

That incident happened over 8 years ago and was only one such time in which I was personally involved. There were many, many more. During my 20 years with the USPS, I also actively worked on documenting criminal activities of many different types of employees: carriers, clerks, postal Supervisors, Station Managers and even a couple of Postmasters. One of my field reports even reached the Assistant Postmaster General's desk [she is now the current Postmaster] and required a national USPSIS telecon to address and resolve. When I joined the USPS from the private sector, I was already too old to apply for an Inspection Service job and didn't want one, anyway. Those guys are something else and frankly, I'd never measure up - but the job I DID hold for 14 or those 20 years did require me to work closely with them on a regular basis. In fact, during two of those years I worked directly under their Chain of Command. I have nothing but the greatest respect for them and what they do. So should you. You have no idea how many times they've saved the asses of citizens just like yourself because the public is rarely made aware of the bomb threats [some very real, but thank God most are hoaxes], the small-scale WMD's that enter the mailstream [you'd be surprised at how many common household chemicals can be used to create a dangerously toxic atmosphere for postal employees]. My personal specialty were bio-hazards and I dealt with serious shit on a regular basis... and I'm talking about shit that could kill people. I won't be responding to any more of your childish taunts. But you go right ahead and derail this thread all you like. I've a said enough already, except to thank God I'm RETIRED and no longer a federal employee! |

Quoting: The Irredeemable Doc Savage There's no way to know from the outside of a mailed ballot who that person has voted for. Not true. Eight years ago, I voted by absentee ballot. When I sealed the ballot the correct way, I was beside myself when I realized you could easily see who I voted for just holding it up to the light. It angered me so much, that I repeatedly contacted the polling office to see if my ballot ever arrived. Sure enough...they never received it! Their records only showed that it was sent to me, but never returned to them. Because of the area I lived in, I was certain my ballot was destroyed. And after that, I told myself I would never vote absentee ballot again. True story. |
