Should be treated otherwise it will lead to diabetes, heart failure, and death. Happened to my beautiful Tiger Wood (no jokes, please). Two main types of treatment are drugs and/or radiation. Yes, seems weird and possibly expensive. We never treated Tiger because we didn't know he had it until too late. Good luck with your cat. |

Had an awesome cat a few years back, at 11 he developed a kidney disorder. It sucked and the treatment was worse. But if it's a true companion, you need to find out what's up. Don't wait until it's too late, that will haunt you like a mofo, trust me. |

Good luck with your cat. im sorry about your kitty. op, if it is hyperthyroidism the meds are really inexpensive. there are orgs which will can pay or help pay vet costs, local vets sometimes have in-house grants. people here may pay your vet directly...i woud help out, some others may, too. the meds for hyperthyroidism are really inexpensive and keeps an undelying issues in check (kidneys, heart) vs. radiocat when buying nethimazole (or whatever hyperthyroid med the vet prescribes, ask for a big bottle of like 100 pills.....it costs the same as when they dispense @20 pills...its crazy, but if you dont ask you will hever know about how its more cost effective or the same price to buy bulk vs. smaller prescription |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 23456955 United States 10/22/2016 03:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 2 things come to mind. Hyperthyroidism (there is medicine that is a cream and you can rub it in his ear--super easy) Diabetes is the 2nd. Both of those require a simple blood test at the vet. Not saying it couldn't be something else. Could be as simple as a bad case of round worm. I would call an animal shelter and see if they have any info about local vets that would take an extended payment plan so you could get the proper treatment for him. |
