North Carolina leaders agree to repeal bathroom bill, but many see flaws
3/30/17

The deal leaves regulation of bathrooms solely in control of the state, meaning that cities and local governments can't pass their own anti-discrimination laws until December 2020.
The repeal goes to a vote at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at the state's Senate Rules Committee, and must survive two additional votes on the Senate floor, then goes to the House.

***
Chris Sgro, executive director of Equality NC, called the agreement a "shell piece of a legislation," in which the LGBTQ groups had not been consulted.
"The initiative is not a repeal," he said. "It's doubling down on the discrimination that HB2 exacts -- it's HB2.0. It doesn't allow municipalities to protect people from discrimination till 2020."

"It doesn't do anything to better the lives of LGBT North Carolinians."

Do what you want in your bedroom. Just shut the fuck up about it. I don't care, and I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people don't either.
When you bring it out into the open, be prepared for whatever you get. The VAST majority of folks don't want confused deviants who can't decide what sex they are infecting the rest of society. Deal with it.
LGBT community, go back into the closet. Keep it to yourselves, because the rest of the world is sick of hearing about it. No one is discriminating against you...you're simply being used, like every other 'special' group. Bammy got you all riled up...but he's out. So stop whining.

North Carolina goes soft on bathroom safety
3/30/17

Enough with the bathrooms already. Fact is: No amount of legislation can change a boy into a girl, and a girl into a boy.

But North Carolina lawmakers have decided to go ahead and repeal their controversial HB2, the so-called “bathroom bill” that sparked massive outcry among the LBGTQ community, the business world, the NCAA and artists like Bruce Springsteen and Ringo Starr who refused to play in places that didn’t let boys pee in the girls’ restroom.

Their repeal doesn’t go as far as the LGBTQs want. So now there’s a new outcry.

For heaven’s sake: can’t we all just go at home?

***
With the state maintaining control, it does indeed smell of HB2.0. But then again — so what? There’s nothing wrong with a state trying to keep boys out of the girls’ bathrooms. And just to double down on the whole reason the bathroom bill was born in the first place: Boys who dress as girls are not girls.

That and that alone should be the focus of the HB2 argument. And if it means a few businesses leave the state, so be it.

Judge in Hawaii extends order blocking President Trump's travel ban
3/30/17

U.S. District Judge Derrick Watson issued the longer-lasting hold on the ban just hours after hearing arguments.

Hawaii says the policy discriminates against Muslims and hurts the state's tourist-dependent economy. The implied message in the revised ban is like a "neon sign flashing 'Muslim ban, Muslim ban'" that the government didn't bother to turn off, state Attorney General Douglas Chin told the judge.

US anti-protest bills ‘undemocratic’ & 'alarming' trend against free speech – UN
4/1/17

UN rights experts have voiced concerns over bills recently introduced by a number of US states aimed at restricting the right to assembly, saying they are “undemocratic” and violate international human rights obligations adopted by Washington.
“Since January 2017, a number of undemocratic bills have been proposed in state legislatures with the purpose or effect of criminalizing peaceful protests,” the UN’s top experts on freedom of expression and freedom of assembly, David Kaye and Maina Kiai, said in a recent statement.

Isn't it ironic that the body most intent upon the collapse of sovereign nations would come out and say this? Many a leader has fallen due to a UN 'resolution' (along with crony NATO to bomb the fuck out them). The body that has promoted so many destabilizing programs in America, warns us that our right to protest is in jeopardy?

You have to look past this left and right bullshit if you want the big picture.
The right for ALL Americans to protest is threatened now, not just the fuckwits on the 'Left'.
How did it get to this point? Look at the past 8 years, courtesy of groups like BLM and others, that have organized violent and extremist protests. We see the damage they have done. So what is the Trump admin's response? Further restrict the right to protest for EVERYONE, in the name of curbing 'the others' violent protest activity.
Isn't it peachy how it all just falls together?
Just think...Patriot Act under the 'right'.....NDAA under the 'left'....I thought the 'two sides' were in 'opposition' to each other? Right? Isn't that what you're supposed to believe?
It will get to the point that all gatherings of large groups will be restricted. Any attempt to gather would then be met with brute force.
People speak of 'NWO'. This is how you fucking get there. Wake up.

---
...also, why do you think they paraded all that shiny new police hardware in front of us for the past 8 years during those countless nights of 'standoffs'? You think they purchased all that shit for nothing? We'll see....

-------
Why was there a protest about protests at the Indiana Statehouse?
1/19/17

“It allows for way too much leeway on the part of authorities,” said Sam Jones, another protester. I think it calls for a 15-minute response time which is definitely going to encourage hasty, rash decisions and I think the language 'by any means necessary' will give authorities implicit permission to take a lot of actions that they otherwise really shouldn't be taking against citizens.”

In addition to seemingly taking away people’s right to protest those policies ad events they disagree with, Senate Bill 285 is largely unnecessary.

“In all the protests I've been a part of, permits have been requested, the police have been notified and there's been a respectful relationship between the police and the protesters,” said John Gibson, another protester, who says he has been an activist for almost 40 years. “We want to try and build some bridges of understanding and respect, listening to each other's feelings, which is our first amendment right, and so that's why I am opposed to the bill. I think it's unnecessary and it sends the wrong message at the wrong time.”

When prompted to come up with examples of events where emergency personnel had been prevented from reaching an emergency event by protesters, Sen. Tomes could point to no specific events and only quickly mentioned, “Baltimore,” as one example that would legitimate the bill. He mentioned instances he had seen on the “nightly news,” but could offer no real concrete examples to the committee.

Again, such laws would restrict otherwise law-abiding citizens from exercising their right, due to the actions of paid instigators who set the stage for this legislation.

Equal Pay Day: 5 key points about the gender wage gap
4/4/17

Equal Pay Day, marked on April 4 this year, was created as a way to highlight the wage disparities between the genders. It symbolizes the day when women catch up with what male workers earned in 2016, based on broad assessments that peg women’s pay at about 20 percent less than men’s. Women make about 79 cents for every $1 men earn, the smallest gap since 1960, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Examining the causes of the gender wage imbalance has gained traction among corporations and institutions, but there are plenty of headwinds for women who work outside the home. For one, progress on narrowing the gender pay gap has stalled after women made big gains in the 1980s. Second, many Americans don’t believe the pay gap exists, even though economists have thoroughly debunked that misconception.

Soros-funded university closer to shutting down after Hungary approves new rules
4/4/17

George Soros’ university in his home-country is on the verge of shutdown, after Hungarian Parliament approved a piece of legislation on Tuesday that would tighten regulations on foreign universities—this, as the latest move to reduce free expression and liberalism in Hungary.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, whose party has the commanding majority of parliament, amended the bill on Monday to tighten deadlines for the universities, like Soros’ Central European University to meet these new regulations. Tuesday, Orban pushed that bill through to the president’s desk.

Trump fans and foes clash in Berkeley, sparking violence, multiple arrests
4/15/17

Dueling pro- and anti-Trump rallies in Berkeley, Calif., turned violent Saturday as numerous fistfights broke out and protesters fired pepper spray into a crowd. Police arrested more than a dozen people and requested aid from other law enforcement agencies.

It was not immediately clear what protesters were charged with, or whether there would be more arrests. The Berkeley Police Department seized numerous prohibited items, including sticks and knives, according to the agency.

CHICAGO — Thousands of sign-waving, chanting protesters have marched through streets across America demanding that President Donald Trump release his tax returns so the public can examine his business ties and determine whether he has links to foreign powers.

The tax day protests in more than a dozen cities Saturday were largely peaceful, though occasionally demonstrators and some pro-Trump groups ended up face-to-face exchanging taunts.

Rally Protests LA Sheriff McDonnell's 'Sanctuary State' bill stance
4/17/17

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Eight protesters were taken into custody as demonstrators held a rally outside the L.A. County Sheriff's Department headquarters on Monday, calling for an end to what they described as the sheriff's collaboration with the president's "deportation force."

Demonstrators with the group "Caravan Against Fear" began gathering in downtown L.A. around 11:30 a.m.

Organizers said they are against Sheriff Jim McDonnell's stance on Senate Bill 54, which would limit cooperation with federal immigration laws.

Berkeley cancels conservative firebrand Ann Coulter’s speech over fears of more violent protests
4/19/17

After riots and violent protests in and around their campus during the past three months, officials at the University of California at Berkeley said Wednesday that the school is canceling a planned speech by conservative firebrand Ann Coulter because of safety concerns.

In a letter to a campus Republican group that invited Coulter to speak, university officials said that they made the decision to cancel Coulter’s appearance after assessing the violence that flared on campus in February, when the same college Republican group invited right-wing provocateur and now-former Breitbart News senior editor Milo Yiannopoulos to speak.

Sanctuary cities threatened with loss of federal grant money
4/22/17

Playing off Sessions’ recent comments that sanctuary cities undermine the fight against gangs, the Justice Department said the communities under financial threat are “crumbling under the weight of illegal immigration and violent crime.”

After a raid led to the arrests of 11 MS-13 gang members in California’s Bay Area “city officials seemed more concerned with reassuring illegal immigrants that the raid was unrelated to immigration than with warning other MS-13 members that they were next,” the department said in a statement.
