First try to size up the level of civilization they have. Then try to off the next progress level. One obvious way would be to show them how to make the new metal Iron into something amazing. Make steel and show them the usefulness of it. Another small thing would be to improve the bearing systems on wagons and carts. Methods to prevent infestation in grain storage, Minor improvements in irrigation, and small improvements in fishing and watercraft would cement you into the society. Above all, do not be haughty. Giving them knowledge of pathogens might be a path to consider. How to create a hotter furnace if they don't have that; how to create glass. Nothing complex; it won't be high quality glass but they'll know of it at least. Depending on where I am; black powder ingredients would be accessible. If they don't have clay works; I could show them something about that. Or at least gathering it. Depending on where I am they might not have good agriculture; if any at all. I could teach them a little about that. Or at least the principles behind growing their own food. |
