Why is it the person I see in the mirror is not the same as the one I see in photographs?

A mirror image is a reflected duplication of an object that is almost identical, but is reversed in the direction perpendicular to the mirror surface. Your mirror image has been inverted along a third dimension.

The photo you is closer to the real you.

The mirror you is the "opposite" of you.

Your favourite side in the mirror? Not your real favourite or best side.

Your features are probably not that symmetrical so there is a bigger difference between your mirror face and your photograph face. People with very symmetrical features notice less of a difference.

I noticed this with my husband and children. Watching their face in the mirror they look different than the face I see outside the mirror.

Look at mirror twins and you will see what I mean. I think the
Camera may do the same thing in a different way. Also some people are more photogenic than others,

This will seem like brag to some but it is just part of our talk op. I like you take horrible pictures but have had strangers out of the blue stop me and tell me I am beautiful.

So you and me op we are who and what we are. Avoid the lying camera and never forget what's in your heart and mind is what counts and let your smile light up your world.

Yeah Ive had people say I could be a male model and based off what I think I look like, which is the me in the mirror, I can believe it ( i know that sounds incredibly arrogant). But i look terrible in basically every picture that is taken of me and i cannot even stand to look at my own pictures.

This is me entirely. I see myself in the mirror and see a good looking guy, but I look different (like shit) in pics. However, and very oddly, I look good on video.

It is also because when you look in the mirror you see your complete self including the 3 dimensional form. Your complete self also includes your energy, which is your personality, feelings and emotions projecting to you. I have that sometimes I look in the mirror I look tired, then I know I feel tired. Your are seeing more in the mirror than just the 2 dimensional pictures that you take with a camera. Even when I look at my partners photo's he looks different in every one. He even looks different than how I see him in real life. His personality shines through his body. In a photo it is only a capture of a moment and sometimes a emotion that is projected at the time.
