I cannot count the amount of bombs and gunfire going on
since the break of dawn just in the vicinity of the Green Zone. Seems like there is huge "surge" on the part of the insurgents here today. Most likely on a response to GW's speech last night. |

Serious battle on Haifa Street since the break of dawn. Which is mostly a Sunni but still mixed area of town.
But the sheer amount of ballistics that are being expended is unbelieveable. Cannot tell what side is doing what but what would seem like car bombs sounds I could easily count 20, aside from RPG's/50 cal and Apache helo fire. It is only half a mile away. Incredible. |

The heavy stuff has subsided for now but it never stops. Some days it is just small arms fire, somedays mortar rains, other days though not common are days like today when the insurgents try to make a statement of some sort. I am really sure that this was in response to GW's address.
Those guys that went down yesterday most likely we will find out who they are, this community is really small. Those guys are called cowboys but they really earn their money, believe me. |

Roughly two years so it is funny to hear the people that supposedly know what has to be done, what are the problems here, who is behind everything, so on and so forth.
Runaway? hmmm... Highly unlikely, there is a mission here that is so dependent on help that you have to sometimes look away from the politics...
