Their own bank robbed them and all I've got to say is this. You misspelled Gold And Silver - Bitcoins will just get "hacked" too wont they? And each of the occassions that BTC/XTC was stolen was all inside jobs, usually with an exit scam. Someone sets up a dummy company and people get suckered in. Think of it this way. If you handed a full wallet to some shady POS in a backalley and you were promised that your money and wallet would be there later. I'm afraid that would be a case of Caveat Emptor, buyer beware. However in terms of security, the 8 years I've used BTC, keeping my wallet ON ME as a security measure has worked out just fine. Since it's digital I have backups of my wallet just in case. I am my own bank in the case of BTC. More to the point, if you want to succeed in starting a currency know the players, and who's in it to win it. Right now, no one 'in charge' is going to win fighting against the inevitable organic growth that will use the rot and mature of their industry as a fertile field to sow BTC as the next level in economic renewal. To discuss financial security, if people keep throwing around their money in a marketplace like a drunk at a casino borrowing from loan sharks...well then, the obvious outcome is fairly obvious. They will lose their bankrolls. For metal...it hasn't even kept up with inflation. It's a bad medium for transaction in a world that ships goods from everywhere. Unless you trust that you can put a bar of gold in a fedex package and trust that something gets delivered back. Otherwise, like BTC fly by nights, you'll just get robbed. It really doesn't matter what the capital is for the exchange, it's only a receipt of a value of transaction performed for goods or services. All money by it's nature is a legal agreement, nothing else. Where the issue pops up is when money gets hyped as the end goal instead of being a tool to facilitate a transaction to make something happen. |

It's pretty simple why the attitude persists. They are all bred to a communist, central state that is lousy at math and the state lies about everything. The issue is very simple to resolve though. Grow the new forest on the remains of the last one. Just like it happens in nature. When the gardeners are shitty, their garden is overrun very easily with everything they don't want. And the financial as it stands has the worst gardeners I've ever seen. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73362579 It's the bank bail in that passed a couple of years ago. They are just using the 'hackers' as a smoke screen. The fact is the whole job could only be done internally with knowledge of all the banking security systems and...signatures by people with power to release funds of more than 500 pounds (remember all the terrorist bank restrictions?). Their own bank robbed them and all I've got to say is this. You misspelled Gold And Silver - Bitcoins will just get "hacked" too wont they? You can't hack cryptocurrency if it's in an offline wallet but if the grid goes down it won't be of any use. i thought BITCOIN crashed? a long time ago? unfortunately. Bitcoin was in a stupid high bubble, which subsequently crashed. But Bitcoin did bounce back, and is looking healthy again. It is subject to free-market swings in value, which is the nature of unregulated money. And so it is susceptible to free-market manipulations by State actors with unlimited budgets. It's the only "currency" that has appreciated in value over the last several years. There are some upcoming options for off-line Bitcoin transactions, but I wouldn't trust them: [link to www.coindesk.com] |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29205058 Gold and silver will not be the only answer to freedom when the .gov taxes and regulates such ownership & transactions out of existence. And then if you trade in them on the black market, you will be a criminal, on par with counterfeiters and tax-evaders, in their eyes. You will be anything but free. |
