Everything I can see says this plant was abandoned.

That looks like a Magnesium or Phosphorus fire (both are metals).

Drove by this inferno this morning. Like a volcano eruption. Sky is pitch black and ash fall reported.

It's an old blast furnace building.

I'm not familiar with that plant but steel mills use alot of oil and other caustic materials to prevent rust so that's where the hazard comes in.Then you have a giant black tar roof causing all the black smoke.
