Re: **OIL PULLING** - STRONGER, WHITER TEETH!!
I ran out of sunflower oil for a while so I stopped doing this, but I just got a gallon at a soap making place for only 15.00 and have started again. I keep it in a smaller bottle with a flip top dispenser so it's easy to pour a tablespoon from.

It really does take the tartar off your teeth and certainly if you went to the dentist and got all cleaned up, oil pulling would be the best prevention for keeping it from building up again. I noticed that my teeth got yellower when I quit doing this for a while. it really does make your teeth white and how much better to do it this way than to use those chemical kits! Cheaper too!

Re: **OIL PULLING** - STRONGER, WHITER TEETH!!
I stumbled upon this oil pulling thing here at GLP by pure accident. I was fascinated and kept reading everything I could find. I am really only interested in oral improvements. I thought, eewww oil in my mouth swishing it around....yuck, I will just vomit. However I kept reading. Most people did not have any problems. Most recommendations are for Sunflower Oil. I headed down to the health food store and bought Hain expeller pressed Sunflower Oil. I was still hesitant. I decided to just hop in the shower and try it. Well..........it was super easy. There is no taste in the oil. I only used a teaspoon, but it was easy to swish around and it did become white and foamy just as it should. I spit it out, rinsed about 3 times then brushed. Yep, totally clean feeling. Clean tongue, just a great overall super clean feeling in my mouth. I plan to do it 2 times a day when showering or reading email. I will be anxious to see if I reap any other benefits besides having a super clean mouth.

Give it a try. I was very squimish believe me, the sunflower oil is tasteless and very light.

I will certainly give it a try!

But I would stil want to brush my teeth normally first, or afterward.

Does that diminish the effects?

Re: **OIL PULLING** - STRONGER, WHITER TEETH!!
No-- it doesn't hurt the effects to brush before and or after an oil pull,, in fact some ppl advise you do that..

for anyone who wants to try this,, JUST TRY IT ,,
it's really easy : )

the first time I did, I did all wrong according to the
OP Guru's, hehe, but SO WHAT,, I couldn't handle the oil
in my mouth for even five minutes, BUT I KNOW my teeth still
had gotten a noticeable shade lighter,,
it was then that I began doing more research on it,
because I thought I must be imagining this -- that's not
possible.. YES IT IS POSSIBLE..
Somehow the oil removes stains that other products can't
and EFFORTLESSLY and inexpensively to boot,, especially
if you're like me and use cold pressed olive oil --
If the only benefit I've gotten is whiter, brighter teeth
and stronger gums BOY HOWDY it hasn't even cost me 6bucks yet
so what have u got to lose..

JUST TRY IT!! the only drawback with the olive oil is the taste can be stronger from what I've read,, but if you start
out with 1/2 a tablespoon and just pull and swish for as long as you can if you can't do it for 20 mins,,
DON'T WORRY do what you can and if you like the way your mouth feels, your teeth look and anyother benefits that you might get then you'll have the motivatioin you need to keep doing it. JUST TRY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW I HAVE MERCURY FILLINGS,, silver is what they use to be
known as LOL.. AND I"VE HAD NO PROBLEMS TO SPEAK OF.
I have pretty bad tooth sensitivity and have found that this doesn't effect it either way, so far, maybe in time it will improve it, I HOPE : ),, but oh well if not..
I have noticed that it removes the coating that comes with continually using a sensitive toothpaste -- so sometimes afterwards my teeth feel more sensitive to hot and cold, but I just brush after I pull, to help this..

peace out -- it's not life or death it's just oil being
swished around in your mouth -- LOL --

After two months of oil pulling, I am taking a break. My teeth have become very sensitive, although my mouth looks and feels very clean. I also have some hair loss, but that could be stress also.

I was using organic safflower and alternating with sesame. I wonder if I am allergic to one of the oils?

Re: **OIL PULLING** - STRONGER, WHITER TEETH!!
I oil pulled for about a month or two and, in that time period, I had three or four different people compliment me on how white my teeth were. They asked me what whitening toothpaste I was using and one even accused me of using Crest Whitestrips (which I was not using). I stopped after my bottle of oil ran out but I started again just recently and I think it will just be a matter of time before the compliments start rolling in again. For a couple of bucks for a month's supply of oil, there's no beating oil pulling. I'm grateful to the OP for spreading the word.

Re: **OIL PULLING** - STRONGER, WHITER TEETH!!
8 full days of OP after I found this thread, and I am addicted...my husband noticed my teeth and could not figure out what I had done...I was stealth OPing. I had a fairly bad infection in my gums between two teeth, after 1 week is it gone.....gone. The tarter that had been on the front of my bottom teeth is gone...gone. I had not thought about this until someone else on this thread mentioned it, but I haven't wanted any sugar....hmmm. The red flush on my face has almost disappeared. I just cant believe how easy this is to do and how much benefit is received....getting my husband on it now...

Re: **OIL PULLING** - STRONGER, WHITER TEETH!!
Hey there everyone. I OP...and have been doing this for two years. I have much to tell you as I've been assisting on one of the nets biggest forums on this.

Here are a few things we've learned:

Change your oil about every month. For some reason you get used to the oil you are using, and starting a new oil seems to refresh the whole thing.

Stay away from the following oils:

Peanut (contains mold)
Soy - messes with estrogen
Canola - Not fit for human consumption

People have reported having a darkening of teeth on olive oil. Not all of them, but enough to warn people about.

If you have an infection, adding some drops of Oil of Oregano (for a week or so only) has an amazing effect. (You can get this in the health food store). It's natures antibiotic, and watch out, it's powerful.

We have had people also add peppermint oil, clove oil, iodine....all with good effect.

It's best to rinse with warm sea salt water after you OP. It's also healing, and it does clean out the extra residue.

We have found that it can partly cure Keratosis Pilaris, which is an incurable skin condition, sometimes referred to as "chicken skin". Bumpy red skin. It gets rid of the bumps well, but not all the redness (my husband is one of those people).

There is so much more. I'm sorry if any of this info has been posted prior, so I just wanted to swoop in and say hello. Your thread is one of the largest on the internet, and that is very encouraging. This is an amazing therapy. Cheap, easy and effective!!

Thanks for the information Molly.

One of the forums recommends drinking apple cider vinegar with baking soda after oil pulling.

I notice that you recommend a sea salt water rinse. Could you discuss the sea salt approach. Thanks.

Re: **OIL PULLING** - STRONGER, WHITER TEETH!!
Just like you do a sea salt rinse (gargle) when you are sick, its the same concept. Sea Salt is extremely healing for the gums and other soft tissues of the mouth.

There is a dentist, Dr. Nara, who does believe in the alkalinity of the mouth. He's written quite a bit in his literature "Oramedics" about acidity and dental health. Apple Cider Vinegar is alkaline as is the baking soda. It think this is a good combination and either will do well for you!! Everything Dr. Nara makes sense to me.

Here is a link to the Oramedics site. I have ordered his e-book and thought it was a good read. I think there is a forum group on Yahoo that are devotees of his also!

Been doing it for a few months with sesame oil although I often miss a few days at a time, yet my teeth are noticeably whiter. My two upper front teeth always look white because they're caps (had my front teeth knocked out playing hockey as a kid) but the side teeth always looked yellow in comparison to them. They are looking whiter now. I'm going to continue doing this.

I did this for the first time today with organic sunflower oil. it turned white after only five minutes so I spit it out. should I have carried on with fresh oil or does it work as soon as it's gone white?

also, just wanted to report that after reading advice on
www.oilpulling.com
, after rinsing with salt water I used pure olive oil soap to brush my teeth. sounds strange but it wasn't at all unpleasant. you only need a tiny bit on your brush to make it foam up loads. try it!

I had a MASSIVE SEIZURE 18 months ago, the first and hopefully the last in my life here before I relocate to the planet Zordon which is 22 light years away.

I lost part of the side of my tongue which appears to have become pre-cancerous within the last week.

Anyway, I did my first oil pull today and the result was amazing. Whiter teeth and I feel great.

Oil pulling is good.

I didn't use cold pressed sunflower oil though, just ordinary supermarket sunflower oil.

The travel agents won't book me a ticket to Zordon because they think I'm a loony and they have never heard of the planet let alone space travel.

Re: **OIL PULLING** - STRONGER, WHITER TEETH!!
Yes, you can do it with olive oil or coconut oil from what i've read, but not as effective. sesame and sunflower are most effective (respectively so), but the key is ORGANIC and above all COLD PRESSED.

Some say that refined is acceptable and that results are not unheard of with it, but I have trouble with that. it's probably effective enough, but not as effective as unrefined cold pressed organic sesame oil or sunflower oil- the point is to RID the body of toxins, not introduce others, as refined oil may do.

sesame oil is a sacred oil- it is an oil that has been worshipped by some cultures. it has been an effective miracle drug and multi-use prescription for thousands of years in ayurveda.

it's effective as a soak- slather it all over your body, face- particularly the area around the nose and mouth where pores tend to be larger- and hair too, leave it on for 15-20 minutes and rinse off in the shower- the oil pulls toxins/free radicals (agers) from the skin, making them water soluble; cooking with it is ALSO effective on blood pressure and numerous other ailments. it "lubricates" the joints, bones, and muscles. and oil pulling with it is an age-old cure-all that big pharma would prefer you dismiss.

i have been thinking about other processes that work on the lymphatic system- such as dry skin brushing and detoxifying yoga poses.
