We need more films like these days. Hollywood has wasted too much precious time and money on recycling cliched garbage like endless "The Hunger Games" and "Divergent" sequels, big-budget bullshit with no substance, no originality, no realism, no relatabiity, etc. The average middle class American feels alienated by big-budget but artistically cheap bullshit, they feel the working man isn't represented enough. Films like "The Indian Runner", "Bad Lieutenant" and "The Salton Sea" represent the plight of the everyman. The disenfranchised, struggling widow... the sleazy cop on a path to redemption. The rest of these film just have a sense of realism and/or engaging plotline/characters that make the moviegoing experience all the more enjoyable and passionate. Hollywood relies too much CGI these days. We need stories. We need characters. |
