If you knew a moderator at a forum was editing member's posts, what would you do?

If you knew a moderator at a forum was editing member's posts, what would you do?
Would you continue posting at the forum or leave it?

The forum moderator at davidickeforum.com admitted to editing people's posts recently. This is the first time I've heard of such a thing:

What could be worse on a forum than the moderator editing people's posts. I would leave any forum that did that! Can you imagine, there was a guy arrested in the USA recently because of what he posted on a message board. The feds took at as a threat for terrorist activity! With the new laws in the US, the US feds can hunt down anyone anywhere in the world, arrest them and hold them indefinitely and torture them for any or no reason. When a forum moderator admits to editing posts, your putting your life in their hands if you keep posting at that forum. That's just today's reality, anyone who doesn't care about that is dead meat.

That's exactly right, a moderator could change your message to anything. They could set you for "stalking", "terrorism", all sorts of crimes. When a forum moderator admits to editing posts, your putting your life in their hands if you keep posting at that forum.

Mine were deleted all day today and I was banned from posting all together. I really see no difference. "Editing" generally means "deleting" what the mod considers inappropriate (or simply doesn't agree with what you're writing). Complete deletion is a real smack in the face. You're told plain and clear, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FREE SPEECH.

OH PLEASE, the guy probably got arrested for making several posts that had threats or one post with a threat in it. He had probably been under surveillance and your post isn't scaring me ok? Having a problem with a forum is a personal matter, and if you do not like it then leave at your own discretion!

That depends on the reason for the edit, what was edited, if it was told to the posters, etc.

The edit feature can be a handy tool if used correctly….

From reading the bottom of your rant, I fear that reciprocity was the true reason for you to post this unfortunately.

You will find the glpers are hardcore, thick shelled, & battle tested and will not easily succumb to your mind manipulation attempts.

However, feel free to continue ranting.

there is a huge difference between editing someone's post and deleting it all together. Here at GLP, mods do not even have the ability to edit anyone's post other than their own. We can and do delete posts that are inappropriate.
Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

Re: If you knew a moderator at a forum was editing member's posts, what would you do?
Usually at the forum I am a moderator at we do not let an inappropriate thread thru in the first place and if one gets by for the forum to read we will give the person a write up, three and they are banned from the board.

The forum I am at is specific to what the list is about and if people start posting something about Hitler, which would be off topic, we would simply delete the post. We never edit a persons post, and since there are six MODs there, one would know if the other did so.

Usually the administrator of the board only has mods he can trust to do the job they volunteered to do.

Trolling other members for one, and oh, verbally attacking is another. But the board I'm moderating is much stricter than GLP.
