Yes, it for meter-reading and in states/areas that offer "load-sharing" it allows the power company to turn off high wattage appliances (air conditioner, water heater, etc.) when certain circumstances apply. |

I opted out on electric and gas.They charge a one time fee,then bill you for meter reads for next 2 years.After that,no further charges. Real fun,if you are on the CARE plan for lower income,charges are quite negligible.It pisses em off when you opt out too.But thats the LAW in Calif. |

I guess Penelec is using Wellington to Install the Smart Meters, and from what it appears Penelec is trying to use a low profile as they do it. Seems a bit odd. |
