I'm not surprised the shills are out denouncing tariffs.

They don't know or they don't want GLPers to know that other countries impose high tariffs on American goods coming into their countries. while they can sell their own goods tariff free in the US. This is one of the devastating feature of those unfair trade deals Thrump talks about.

What about all the chinese companies that are opening up here? Seems as if no matter what happens china is still going to be where our money goes.

Putting massive tariffs on chinese exports is an excellent idea.

I didn't like Trump at first but I think he could be very good at bringing back the balance in favour of the west, when for years our greedy politicians have been selling America and Australia out to the chinese.

Most countries have a foreign goods import tax. It has been the corruption / bribes of / to politicians that erased the import taxes into the US.

I 100% agree with you. In Australia we used to make outstandingly good electronic equipment, excellent quality clothes, great cars. Now it's all gone to shit because we import everything from china. Australia sends excellent quality resources to china and we buy it back as junk ready to be thrown into landfill.

Chinese steel is shit, chinese cement is shit, the clothes are shit and don't even fit properly, electronics are shit and stop working in a year. The best one yet though is chinese socks come brand new with holes already in them, hmmm now that's innovation.

I will admit that I was apprehensive at first about Trump winning and was worried he may ditch the ANZUS treaty and leave Australia and New Zealand to the chinese but I don't think he will as America and Australia are very close allies. Also his call to the Taiwanese president the other day just to piss on china was a very smart move, to leave the chinese government uncertain on their future was a very shrewd move. Go Trump!!!

Yep, free trade is destroying every country on the planet, the west can be fully self sufficient, it's the other countries like china that can't afford to lose exports from countries like America and Australia as they would starve.

Most of the so-called Chinese companies are really American / EU companies masquerading as Chinese, when in reality, the American / EU corporations are the silent partners providing the capital. If President Trump can impose a tariff on return goods, the American/EU companies will just create shadow factories in the Beijing free trade zone. Also, dont forget that many US brand names have been sold to legit Asian companies that are turning out generic crap with US brand names such as HUFFY BICYCLES. If the TPP passed, I dont believe President Trump would have been able to enact any type of tariff.

Actually, the 35% is the increase in prices of imported goods, due to dollar devaluation, as the dollar completely loses sole global reserve/petrodollar status. Trump (his advisors/bankers, actually) is finding many creative ways to spin the death of the global reserve dollar into a "dumb American" friendly narrative. This is one of those narratives.

We all sit here with our thumbs up our collective asses reading stories about how much obscene wealth has been established in China over the last 20 years. Guess who made that happen? American consumers!! All this while our middle class has been decimated! Yes that is exactly right. Australian consumers have done the same here. In our household we look at manufacture origin and refuse as much as possible to buy anything made in china.

In Australia we have mega rich chinks snapping up all the mega mansions in the most exclusive suburbs while Aussies work their guts out and can't even save enough for a home loan deposit.
