Batteries, there's money in it. A story from ww2. The British made kits that they dropped into occupied Europe for agents and resistance fighters. Included were batteries to power lights and radios. The batteries were sourced from battery manufacturers in Great Brittan. They had a very short useful life so the military asked for better batteries. None were offered or were said it exist. The government threatened to take over the battery companies for the war effort if better batteries were not forthcoming. In two weeks time batteries were being delivered that had six times the useful life as the previously supplied batteries. After the war the battery companies went back to supplying the short life batteries.

They developed a new conductor that will allow you to charge a phone in seconds, as and when it hits the consumer market is anyone's guess though.
