The only real gateway drug is unhappiness, depression and misery. People take hard drugs because they don't want to face life, but they're too afraid to commit suicide. End of story. Marijuana is something pretty much everyone I've ever known in life, including kids in Junior High, did. Never led them to cocaine or heroin. Not a single damn one of them.

This is somewhat true, but not always the case. Some people just like to experiment things for themselves and try drugs for the fun of it. But unhappiness and depression does lead people to alcohol and drugs.

^THIS^, I started drinking in high school, which then lead me to mary jane to which I smoked for 15 years almost daily. Never tried any other drugs except for shrooms once to which I didn't like, gave me a massive headache which lasted like two days. But ya 15 years of just mary jane and then I "quit" last year because I am sick of weak dealer bullshit. Come on Canada legalize this shit so I can take up smoking again without going through weak dealer bullshit.

When people tell kids how dangerous weed is, and it will kill you, mess you up etc etc etc. Then the kid tries it, and finds out how much bullshit it is about the dangers of weed.

So, in their developing minds, they think if they were lied to about how dangerous weed is, those people spouting that bullshit must also be lying about the truly dangerous stuff. Then they ultimately try coke, meth etc and end up hooked on it.
