It's the same reason each state has its own governor and elected representatives to pass state laws, because the individual states make up the Republic of the United States of America. The reason for the electors as persons is to cast the state votes and bring them to Congress on Jan 6, however if they are not going to act as the Constitution intended, then maybe we should do away with them and just let Congress apply the electoral totals from each state on Jan 6 without first going through the Dec. 19 formality. This. The wicked witch of a grifter was soundly defeated on the eighth of November. There is no reason for this bullshit over a month later. |
