Water fast: Day 21 | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 47828544 United States 12/20/2016 12:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Twenty+ days ago another GLPer was posting daily of their juice fast which inspired me to do a fast myself. It wasn't anything preplanned so I unfortunately didn't do any stats prior. I started at midnight(am) on the Sunday after Thanksgiving with a 3 day whole fruit/vege fast (5 piece of whole fruit and or vegetables/day), and since midnight on Nov. 30th have had nothing but water. In the past I've done at longest a 14day water fast and usually spent the first three+ days battling hunger, but this time have had no issues throughout. Food still looks and sounds tempting but it's really all mental, not my body needing it for life. Due to social preassure I'll have to quit in a couple days so I can get my digestive system back up and running to dine with family during the holidays, if not for that I would keep going to at least 30days, probably longer. I feel great, am really calm and slowed, but mentally quick, alert and energetic. I work out regularly, recover well and suffer no unusual fatigue or I'll effects. Here is a helpful link to water fasting and a good resource for other types as well: [link to www.allaboutfasting.com] So in general, I feel great and saved a lot of money, time and energy that would have otherwise been spent shopping, preparing and dining, etc. (Years ago I wished there was a way I could hit up a buffet, eat all day, and be good for a month...this kinda seems like a semi-plausible solution) From the site linked above, here is a page of quotes regarding fasting: [link to www.allaboutfasting.com] And guidelines for breaking a fast, which depending on the length of your fast are quite critical: [link to www.allaboutfasting.com] Hope you consider giving it a try. The first 3-4 days are the hardest, after that it's typically pretty easy. Aside from the potential release of toxins [depending on you current individual health (this is a good thing as your body is cleaning out)], mainly at the beginning (which is physical), pretty much everything beyond that is a mental battle. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all! |
