I'm getting sad. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34645110 Today in my family we lost Zoe, a female Yorkshire Terrier who lived to 15. Her passing was expected by now... She hung in there as long as she could and passed peacefully in her sleep (or so it seems). May she continue to chase cats in Heaven as she did here on Earth. |

I loved all dog books, but especially collie ones. Will admit I read every horse book I could get my hands on, as well. ;) Loved Albert Payson Terhune!! I still have so many of my childhood books. Well it is my great pleasure to meet another Terhune fan! I always wanted to go to New Jersey and find him, never did, lol and horses! Fury was my all time favorite, and here in my dotage I have a Fury! see pic Also I worked with an animal trainer that had worked with Fury, said he was a great great horse. OMG!! I loved Fury!!! ;) I envied Billy Diamond big time! ;) And yes, I have always loved your Fury avatar. lol Special meaning now. ;) Always wanted a collie. ;) God bless Terhune for sharing his heart and love with us, eh? Jupiter was a dachshund. I cried EVERY day for a whole month and started drinking beer more than usual. I still tear up if I think about him too much. My daughter moved out over a year ago so now it's just me here alone. I've tried looking for signs that Jupiter is still around but I don't sense him at all. My heart hurts for him. They often let people post found dogs or those who need re-homing. Or might know of a situation where a dog needs a good home. Lots of times great small dogs lose their happy home when their elderly owner has to go into a nursing home or dies. Sometimes in these situations, there's very little or no adoption fee. Someone else suggested older dogs. We've adopted several senior dogs over the years, and they've always been so grateful and loving. You don't get to keep them as long, but they've got a lot to offer. The dog I miss the most was an old border collie who'd been in a puppy mill for nine years. She was the most loving little soul I've ever known. Her health never entirely recovered, but she was with us for almost four happy years before she died and I've always been grateful that we got to be the ones who let her finally live a good life. More deplorable all the time. |
