Re: Slow computer!!!
The best advice I see here so far is to download a trial of any good Virus protection and run it. Also malware protection is an essential necessity in todays digital highways.

I have repaired many computers this way that have had the same illness yours has, SLOW SLOW SLOW,

Try it , it's free and wont hurt anything if followed through correctly.

Good Luck

better advice-dont download the emails, just read them online at your provider, no?

Correct, Emails are a major hub of activity, never open any if there is the least bit of doubt about it, I have seen scammers replicate my amazon act, email act and numerous others. The amount of fraud online is truly escalating at breakneck speeds. I have subscripts to several virus guru sites and it is incredible how bad it is.

At least it can be updated (though the updates are often shit) --

I've been trying to download a "critical" Windows 7 update for about a month now -- it just goes round and round and never downloads
