HUGE pots, 40 to 50k pots and a lot of it cash. Was crazy to watch. Anyway Sammy got caught marking cards at the table. Not a lot happened legally but I know everyone was dogging him pretty hard in the card room and I really never heard much more about him after that deal. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69084393 Yup, they all went crazy. It's easy to lose track of the value of a dollar. They were playing as much as million dollar pots, one hand, which is just insane. I don't care if you have a 20 million dollar bankroll or how supposedly good you are. Fuck around playing stakes like that and you're going to lose it all. Run bad just a couple of days and it's all gone. At some point you have to look down in front of you and say, "I have a 4 bedroom house on the best street in town on the table in front of me, and I've got fuckin' two kings. This is insane." But they didn't do that. And when you get to that point, you're done. That kind of insanity could never last. I doubt Stu Ungar would have been crazy enough to risk that kind of money on one hand. |

I had a cool experience regarding Stu Ungar in Vegas. Ungar was playing No Limit Hold Em'heads up with a rich arab. The table was behind the ropes but was right in the corner and Ungar had his back to the rope and he let us stand behind him and he shared all his hands with us for a looong time. I just remember 1 specific hand = Ungar reraised with NOTHING....he just tossed in a huge stack of hundreds and a bunch of blacks...and kept chattering and talking smack. The arab folded after much thought. Fun times!!!. Also remember an old Treetop Jack Strauss had 2 young hookers with him and they were running sports bets for him while he played in a huge game...old school!!! |
