Creating harmonic resonance at the proper frequency
increases the vibrational intensity inherent in the material.
An acoustic instrument would sound tinny without the resonance of its construct
but must be fine-tuned and dampened for 'hot-spots' in the material.
These 'hot-spots' will cause sympathetic vibration and dissonance... especially in amplified settings.
We commonly call this 'feedback'.
Hence the need for equalization.. to dampen acoustical 'hot-spots'.
