This tripps the deep woo factor for many, but I will start off back from the cliff.

Where I live it is a place of Gold mining and coal extraction.
One of the old mining areas used to attract a lot of Witches covens. If you examine the people who protest mining sites and pretending to be green environmentalist you find a great many of occultist types. They want the Raw Ores where they are because they is a tremendous amounts of energy to be uses in "Workings". There is some kind of energy in these ores be it spiritual or other.

In simple energy terms anything placed in a field that is not identical in energy values to itself or configuration it will attempt to equalize to the surrounding field. This means in such areas on a large scale vast amounts of subtle Earth energies are being produced.

Quartz in vast amounts is also found where I live along with just about every type of mineral that exists in NZ including Uranium.

That is one theory.
Another is much simpler, the corporations are attacking the planet to pollute it as a globalization effort in which soon the world will be directed against china [pure scripting at work, this has already been decided and agreed upon, just the excuse had to be decided upon] to make it adhere to the standards of the rest of the world. [this is the beginning of an end game for the corporations]

Then after the conflict the Earth is well polluted [as we see the advance work has done quite well] One corporation rises up and says it can clean up the planet [we already have this technology independent of the Venter cartel] and people allow/elect this corporation to be the controllers and organizers of the World effort. This caused them to say unless they are the administrators of World government under a single system then th task will never be done correctly. This leads to them taking control of the Globe in a popular movement.

For those who do not read scifi that is the plot of Asimov's favorite Novel he wrote called "The gods themselves" [I see the script writers are old scifi buffs from way back, like myself, I see they are enjoying the works of the New guy in scifi Peter F Hamilton, as detailed in the Anonymous scripting club with their singularity project]

Another theory trips the deep woo factor by at least 10. The people in the corporations are controlled from the Top down by Non physical entities, it is their plan they are following and they seek to destroy sophia/Gaia/wisdom who fled into the Trees [planet] and they could not gain a power over her.
This relies upon second hand information which should aways be treated as such and could well be an old agenda left over from the previous controller of societies in their regions.

What we do see is all top members at the top corporations are joined in occultistry, they support the Order of the World that supports their actions, The Weak are Meat and the Strong Do Eat. This is the core tenet of Pantheists, nature worshipers, it is the order of the world in their opinion and they do what they do because no-on can stop them.
Here we have a conundrum the very people who are nature worshipers are the same people attacking the planet. This suggest many things to me but it is all speculation based on personal experience, I expect no-one to follow me down that rabbit hole.

We do see many pantheists are Occultists, they care nothing for you an I, it is all about them and their power over others, a greed which can never be quenched.

People that seek leadership positions appear, when looked at logically, fundamentally flawed as Humans, they have no empathy or compassion just a drive to have power over others and they are skilled liars which enables this. This is usually a result of being treated cruelly as a child, to seek power in such a way those terrible things can never happen to them again.

The most ancient hermetic people believed everything had spirit in it as part of what it was and it is the spirit that gives "Flavor" to the object in question giving it properties in the physical realm. When you grow your own food you are also loading it with spirit. Industrial grown food is lacking in spiritual nourishment and many say that is why so many humans are acting like animals in our time.

Are the corporations attacking the spirit of the planet to affect us and bring us down to their level?

They are playing with the ionosphere as well as the weather and EM signature of many places by use of Wireless networks Cell towers and of course the tool they have previously used which is all those overhead Electricity wires which are long enough to generate many low frequency Electromagnetic waves which are shown to affect people's emotional state.

It doesn't matter which theory you look at it is all about controlling people on mass and the world [deep insecurity issues there, very flawed people]. They are not doing it for the benefit of all and that is all we need to know to see where we fit into this picture.
