My encounters with the Hat man and other ghosts growing up.
I Have been wanting to post my story to a website for quite some time but I never knew where I should of posted it, I have followed GLP for some time so and I now have the time to type it all out.... ok here we go.

I was born in 1989 and grew up in a small house in a city called Royal Oak, a suburb of Detroit MI. At an early age both me and my brother (Who is two and half years older than me) started seeing ghosts or things we couldn't explain, but when I was in middle-school things started to get a little weirder. One night I woke up and couldn't fall back to sleep so I laid on my back staring at the dimly lit ceiling from my night light. I started to have this weird feeling as if something was watching me, I looked out my bedroom door (my door was always open and I could see partially into my parents bedroom) and I thought I saw one of my parents coming out of their bedroom but it was a tall 6-7 foot man with a brown jacket and brimmed hat, I could see through him but he had no facial features. He walked/glided straight towards me and I put my head under my covers and screamed for my parents. The light came on and they asked me what happened but when I told them they chalked it up to being a nightmare....
Well this happened many more times over the course of a fewmonths and my mom started to believe me but my dad wasn't really convinced that the "Brown jacket man" was real. When I became a High-school student my dad had put two additions on our house a huge backroom and an entire upstairs. Me and my brother shared the entire upstairs, there was a main big room which was our bedroom and we had a walk-in closet/bathroom attached to it, It was here where we had the scariest encounter of our lives.
Our beds sat about 4-5 feet off the floor and our room glowed a dark blue from our ceiling fan which had a neon light in it making everything look eerie, and one night I was lying there trying to sleep when I heard the voice of a man but it sounded sped up and playing backwards. I had heard this before with other ghost encounters in our house but it was coming from our closet/bathroom and that's when I heard my brother say "dude do you hear that?" I was so relived that he was awake but I couldn't believe he heard it too, so I replied "the voice that sounds like its talking backwards? yeah I hear it" we both sat up in our beds and the voice kept talking.
We then started to hear footsteps along with the voice and it was now pacing back and forth, then the door handle just started freaking out (I am getting chills just typing and rethinking about this) So I leaned over my bed rail so I could see the door handle shaking, my brother looked as if he was gonna jump out of his bed and run downstairs. But then the door flew open and I instantly said "What do you see!?" because the way my brothers bed was positioned he could see right into the closet, but he said he saw nothing in the door way and then SLAM! the door whipped shut and he jumped out of bed and turned on the lights.
We finally got our courage up and opened the door, we checked both the closet and bathroom but nothing was in there and the voices had ceased. We thought maybe it was one of our cats but nothing was in there, I Got back in my bed as my brother stood next to me and we talked about what the hell just happened. That's when I noticed something out of the corner of my eye, me and my brother were looking at each other but he noticed it too because we both turned our heads at the same time to look and this white cloud looking thing shot under our futon and we both froze, we looked under the futon but once again nothing. We stayed up for a couple hours that night discussing what happened and we still discuss it to this day.
As time went on the door handle would occasionally flip out again and the door would open and slam, some of my friends witnessed this as well, both me and my brother saw the hat man a couple times in the early morning standing in the middle of our room. My Dad would tell us "why would there be ghosts upstairs? I just built it, it cannot be haunted." My Mom however finally believed us one day as I stayed home sick form school, we were watching a movie in the family room (which was right under our bedroom) we heard the closet door fly open upstairs and something ran across the room, and then ran back to the closet and it slammed closed, it was incredibly loud and my mom turned her head to me and she freaked out, "what he hell was that" she said and I just replied with a "we told you so!" Other things were often heard too, I would sometime hear a little girl laughing or talking from the other room, she would even say my name from time to time. One time she whispered "hi" into my ear as I was laying in my bed one morning which suddenly made me sit up with all my hairs on end. My brother and I had a theory that the ghosts were connected to this old baseball bat that was found in my parents closet when they first moved in the house (it was the only thing left behind) it was a dark red wooden bat that had the year 1901 on it, we still have the bat but my brother has since sanded it down making it smooth, I told him not to mess with it but he did it anyways.
We moved out of the house in the late 2000's but the Hat man followed and so did some of the activity (no reverse talking ghosts though) sometimes I thought of visiting my old house ringing the door bell and asking the new family that lives there if they have experienced anything.
The last time I saw the hat man was a few years ago maybe 2012, I was experimenting with lucid dreaming/astral travel and one night I awoke with sleep paralysis and sometimes I wouldn't see anything during Sleep paralysis and other times I would see shadow people or a black thing sitting on my chest but this time the hat man was at the foot of my bed and he had two children with him one at each side and all three were staring at me. Both of these kids looked kind of old timey, they were dressed as if they we from the early 1900's. One was a boy maybe around the age of 10-12 and he had an old looking suit on and the other was a little girl in a white dress she was probably 6-7 years old and I instantly though "That's the girl from my old house!" and then they vanished. There was so many encounters in that house and other run in's with the Hat man but it would be too much to type.

Have any of you seen the Hat man? other stories I have read say people feel threatened by him but I never once felt threatened, the first couple times were scary but after that I was more curious than anything, thanks for reading!

P.S. I sent this to another website but then copied and pasted it here so i am sorry for the formatting and length... my brother is also on GLP so I am sure he will enjoy reading this as well, Cheers!

I watched the hatman zip across my bedroom wall near the ceiling and across the room while I was in sleep paralysis. He didn't seem too scary, did feel the presence of intelligence though as I could see that black top hat zips across the room.

I see the hat man way more often than I'd like to. I'd actually like the number to be zero, but he's apparently kind of a dick.

The hat man that I see is really dark, wears a bowler-type hat and a long coat. He has a head, but with no distinctive features, and no legs below where the coat ends.

He has never done anything when I see him. During just about every sighting, he is either standing next to or at the foot of the bed, and appears to just be watching. When I wake up and see him, I kick out at him to make him go away. This pisses my wife off to no end, but I can't help it. He has left after every kicking event.

Dark as in black? the one I always see has more of a wide brimmed hat not bowler but the rest is the same, no distinct features and no legs below the coat (or at least non that I can make out) and he always just watches me no other actions.

My sister and brother were going to roller skate in our unfinished basement and as they were going downstairs, they saw the hat man so they ran back upstairs and the story was there was no window, no way that shadow of that man could have been there. My entire family has had numerous encounters.

Very black. He's blacker than the surrounding ambient light of the room, so in many cases actually appears to block out what is behind him.

What about the house was it old or one of those 60's ranches?
You say he moved with you?
Have you ever considered saying the Lords prayer aloud and as sincerely as you could for your apparition and asking it to move on??

I do believe he has prayed before
My brother has always had very very lucid dreams and many more encounters and experiences than I have

I never saw the hatman myself

I used to see a shadow woman when I was a kid, she had long dark hair, I wasn't really afraid of her either. I remember how she'd walk to my bed sometimes and lie down next to me.

My brother and dad also saw shadows in that same house at night, except some of the shadows would choke my dad in his sleep (sleep paralysis).

I still experience strange things from time to time, like poltergeist activity but it happens very rarely.

I would imagine so!
I'd be very interested in knowing what would happen if the apparition was prayed FOR aloud directed toward it in a positive manner for going on to it's rest, aloud.
I'm not selling anything, just wondering if their was some mechanism of attempting some sincere kindness, not the standard fear response.
Obviously, it hasn't made any effort to be overtly aggressive.
IIRC there were some more grand older homes scattered about the tract homes back in the day along that 13 mile road.

I've had a number or women that would tell me they'd seen some ghostly entity or another some of them which had children that did too.
I've gotten to the point that I simply assume there is a parallel universe of some sort for them and they're all around at some different frequency and some of them are able to transition between their dimension and ours for some attempt at communication of some sort. What it might be would be terribly interesting.
It took some getting used to, depending on the circumstances but it seems to make it easier to accept over time.

Never tried praying because like I said the first couple times I saw him it was scary but after that I never had any threatening feelings when I would see him. I have had threatening feelings from other beings that I have seen during sleep paralysis but not from the Hat man.

does anyone reporting on these entities want them around ?
tell them to either identify themselves and their intent OR GET THE F OUTTA MY HOUSE.
I have no use for them and NO PATIENCE WITH THEIR BS.
THEY DON'T PAY RENT AND THEY DON'T HELP OUT.

IN THE NAME OF JESUS you will go peacefully NOW AND NOT RETURN.

sometimes i see those watchers and shadow people OUTSIDE and they know they will NOT be invited inside.
they have no place, literally NO PLACE with us.
