I don't get why he'd now say the Russians hacked, when we know they didn't?

So, in this case, yes Russia did the hack job that he saw. He never said that he thought Russia was responsible for the hacking of the DNC and giving the information to Wikileaks. bagnarok hopefully this ^ All countries hack, incl USA. Duh.
