Do you rescue the bird or let nature take it's course?

Rescue if possible.

Because I would hope someone would do the same for me!

I rescued a baby bluejay from this exact situation when I was a kid. My mom told me the generally believed bullshit of if you put it back in the nest the parents will reject it because it smells like a human.

So I had a pet bluejay for years as a kid. He was fucking awesome.

Cats don't last long in this neighborhood.

The rumor is the asian family down the block really love cats. chuckle

Wait for the cat to eat the bird, then take the top of its head off with a 22-250.
That's what it means to be the top predator.
No apologies.

I rescue them all the time, unfortunately, sometimes the nest is way up in the tree.

The same thing I notice about most Americans they are about to be eaten .....

the fact is the bird is a cu-cu bird than when it grows up will kill other birds & steal their parents or a crow that will peck your eyes off or eat your corn crops ....

so let nature follow its course ( read dianetics )

tounge & live and let die !

Re: A baby bird has fallen out of it's nest and you see a cat getting ready to pounce on it.
Many years ago we were sitting in the back yard and saw a crow fly over head carrying a baby mockingbird it had stolen from its nest. The parents were behind chasing and attacking. The crow dropped the baby and I ran over to chase the crow away as he tried to get it again.

I took the baby, it was still too young and was weeks away from flying. I put it in a box by the back door for a short time to see if the parents might come to it. Obviously no luck so we took it inside to feed it. I tried with bread milk and honey with no luck, then my wife had an idea. She rolled some hamburger meat into a string that looked like a worm. The chick gobbled it right up. We named him Merlin.

After a little over week when he had gotten strong enough, when we left for work in the mornings, we set him on a vine covered trellis in the front of the house. Every evening when we got home he would hop down and run to us with his mouth wide open. This went on every day for almost a week. Then one evening I went to see him sitting in the trellis because he didn't run to us and he flew out and up into the tree. We watched him in the tree until dark then hoped for the best.

About a week later we were standing by the side of the house when Merlin flew down and sat on the edge of the roof, he hopped down and landed on my wife's shoulder where he used to sit. We took him inside fed him again then went back outside and he flew away never to be visited again. We both shed a few tears of joy.
