The guy submitted his resignation to the incoming administration, as is customary during the transition, which the Trump team accepted, and all the resignations go into effect at 12:01pm on Inauguration Day...did anyone even read the article

I do not think he turned in his resignation. He was quoted as saying he would never purposefully leave mid-mission.

I would be less concerned if Trump ordered this than Obama. Since media is not screaming about this - I assume Obama ordered it.

My biggest concern is the rumor that ALL our air craft carriers will be in DC port at time. This sounds ridiculous to me. Does anyone know how to check the accuracy of this? Is it true?

He turned in his resignation, as is customary when a new administration comes in. He was put in his position by Bush. He offered his resignation to Obama each time Obama won. Obama did not accept his resignations and allowed him to stay on. He put in his resignation right after the election.

When Trump accepted his resignation, that put it into effect as of 12:01...has ANYONE even read the article?????

Your thread title is incorrect. It's actually a lie. A new commander will officially take over at 12:01pm.

You didn't even both to read the article. The guy put in a request to retire. Obama did NOT fire the guy. When a new president and administration takes over....at 12:01pm, all requests are officially accepted. The TRUMP administration approved this guy's retirement request along with probably hundreds or thousands of others. It just so happened this guy, who has a job at the inauguration, was on the list!

Note in the article:

I think this has more to do with Trump not wanting an obvious Obama plant General than Obama being up to something.

From what I read, he will be there during the time of the inauguration but not after midnight the 20th. If I read right he was appointed by Bush to his position and had tried to retire by turning in his request many times to Obama, sounds as if he got it from Trump, so Obama sacked him early, bull shit move on Obama part, it could have waited.

It like he Obama was peeved at him and did this. I am not getting my knickers in an uproar about it, he was retiring but Obama should not have done it this way. This is where Trump was starting on the stream lining the military and government, letting people retire first.

Thing is Trump could not have been the one doing this, only Obama could.

I know one thing from this, Trump is already working on getting things in order, this has to be done, and it just Obama brattish ways to pull something like this.

The guard will be at the inauguration that is the truth, because this is in the article, he just will not greet them back for the last time.

I believe Trump has this covered.

The military is a series or chain of commanders and it will stand with or without this person at the top. Trump is keeping his own personal security and not even depending on the Secret Service.

He surely wouldn't be blindly depending on this one person for the entire proceedings.
