We stopped him after 2010 election that gave House to Republican Party. Obama and Democrat controlled Senate could not pass any gun control bills because House would not have enough votes to pass the bills.

Only local/state level can do it as long as they are controlled by Democrats. Maybe SCOTUS if a case over gun control is brought up but that appears unlikely for years to come with more conservative judges than liberal judges with Trump in power.
