Re: WTF does "space didn't exist prior to the big bang" mean?
If the big bang wasn't consistent with the universe we see today, it would have been discarded already

________

Oh it will be, trust me.

We (plasma physicists) have already discarded it.
The main problem of science is, way too many academics are way too fucking stupid.
It could take years to teach one of them the basics of philosophy. Most of them still seem to believe that mathematical entities are ontic realities.
I wanna learn

reality is either space or matter.
otherwise it is inconcievable.

the big bang theory sounds like a metaphysical bullshit to me. it is irrational as well.

what do u think?

I know parallel universes are proven. Even if we had a big bang, there would be an infinit amount of universes that did not. black cube, particle entanglement linking process

The universe is either expanding or contracting. Right now it's expanding, but eventually it will slow down, come to a stop and then contract into a massive black hole that will cause another "big bang" which is essentially hitting the reset button. Everything begins anew, and life may or may not exist. The universe expands again until the inertia runs out. Then it contracts again. There have been several "big bangs" and it will never stop.

Re: WTF does "space didn't exist prior to the big bang" mean?
Means our particular universe did not exist. Doesn't preclude the existence of OTHER universes.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71050573

that is not the same with "space didn't exist".

the vacuum of space has to be absolute and eternal, because it is nonexistence itself. how can nonexistence not exist?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 62941395

Dumbass, space as we know it didn't exist before big bang. The cosmic background radiation is the proof of this.

if you look at what they..it usually begins with something like, all matter was "CREATED" from this big bang, you cannot have creation without a creator..thats simple logic

Re: WTF does "space didn't exist prior to the big bang" mean?
Scientists continually confuse their perceptions with actual reality. Just because the original assumption that 'time' is a 'single arrow' is how one sees things, does not mean that's how things really are.

We have no proof that our perceptions and assumptions are an accurate representation of what reality is.

The only thing that can be proven is that it is always NOW. All so-called pasts and futures are also NOW. This is the only view that doesn't lead to a paradox, since there is no beginning and there is no end. Beginnings and ends pay homage to the false 'single arrow' concept of time.

Meh, it's a godless religion, a dogma.

Re: WTF does "space didn't exist prior to the big bang" mean?
You're in a computer. When you play a video game is that "space" you see real? Given the right circumstances you would believe it to be real (virtual reality on steroids). So does that "space" exist that you are perceiving? That's a philosophical question really. When you "go out in space" perhaps you're just going off the map so to speak. Nothing interesting out there except for ornaments to amuse/confuse you.

That being said, the real computer must exist in some space as well. But is THAT space even real? Or is it too virtual? Where does it end?

Chicken and the egg problem. But THAT problem is easily solved in that they both came into creation at the same time when the program was booted.

So perhaps the computer running our "world" is itself what is truly fake.

In a quantum theory of the universe, there exists a quantum wave function that exists outside of normal "space".
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15756296

And what exactly is "abnormal" space?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70697343

Not "normal" space.

Think of a computer game. It exists on a harddrive.

The character of the game cannot imagine anything beyond the harddrive because its outside his perception of reality.

The harddrive is space.
Youre the computer game in it.
But someone made the harddrive. And more than it exists outside your reality.

The Hubble telescope can see the big bang at its very beginning so to me it is real. The Hubble is able to view the universe at the point of the big bang. Hubble is one of the greatest inventions of mankind.

Re: WTF does "space didn't exist prior to the big bang" mean?
Space could not be defined without the presence of matter.

If you were a bodiless spirit in such a place, you could not tell whether you were moving, or if you were moving in any particular direction--there would be no "direction"--and the "place" might be smaller than an atomic nucleus, or larger than our known universe, but the bodiless spirit could not have any way of knowing.

Once we have one piece of "matter-location" in this "place"--then we can draw a line to it. With the line used as a radius, we can draw a circle--then progress to the flower-of-life and Metatron's cube and the rest--three dimensions and time.

A space with no matter, just an empty void. Remind me some how of the Russian doll, within a doll, within a doll ect.
No particles, no gravity, no magnetics, no dark matter/dark energy. No light, No photon particles. No higgs boson. no bottom / top / up / down quark, nothing a true void.

There must have just been matter if there were no space. Just think a universe with no space in between anything.
