We (plasma physicists) have already discarded it. The main problem of science is, way too many academics are way too fucking stupid. It could take years to teach one of them the basics of philosophy. Most of them still seem to believe that mathematical entities are ontic realities. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 62941395 otherwise it is inconcievable. the big bang theory sounds like a metaphysical bullshit to me. it is irrational as well. what do u think? The universe is either expanding or contracting. Right now it's expanding, but eventually it will slow down, come to a stop and then contract into a massive black hole that will cause another "big bang" which is essentially hitting the reset button. Everything begins anew, and life may or may not exist. The universe expands again until the inertia runs out. Then it contracts again. There have been several "big bangs" and it will never stop. |

Doesn't preclude the existence of OTHER universes. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71050573 that is not the same with "space didn't exist". the vacuum of space has to be absolute and eternal, because it is nonexistence itself. how can nonexistence not exist? Dumbass, space as we know it didn't exist before big bang. The cosmic background radiation is the proof of this. |

Just because the original assumption that 'time' is a 'single arrow' is how one sees things, does not mean that's how things really are. We have no proof that our perceptions and assumptions are an accurate representation of what reality is. The only thing that can be proven is that it is always NOW. All so-called pasts and futures are also NOW. This is the only view that doesn't lead to a paradox, since there is no beginning and there is no end. Beginnings and ends pay homage to the false 'single arrow' concept of time. Meh, it's a godless religion, a dogma. |

Given the right circumstances you would believe it to be real (virtual reality on steroids). So does that "space" exist that you are perceiving? That's a philosophical question really. When you "go out in space" perhaps you're just going off the map so to speak. Nothing interesting out there except for ornaments to amuse/confuse you. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 45807046 That being said, the real computer must exist in some space as well. But is THAT space even real? Or is it too virtual? Where does it end? Chicken and the egg problem. But THAT problem is easily solved in that they both came into creation at the same time when the program was booted. So perhaps the computer running our "world" is itself what is truly fake. |

Once we have one piece of "matter-location" in this "place"--then we can draw a line to it.
