What helped for me was natural anti-inflamation supplement and making sure every move i made was using good form. I readjusted my showerhead and changed normal habbits to accomodate good form. Its gone 100% now. There is a mental aspect too Read the reviews of this book. Then buy it. [link to www.amazon.com (secure)] |

This sucks, I'm afraid to go to sleep and wake up tomorrow. Buy a jar of DMSO at Tractor Supply or on Amazon. Rub it into your back and hip every day, every 6 hours as needed. It is a very potent topical pain killer that deeply penetrates with minimal side effects. it does burn a little but it goes away. If the burning is too much then dilute each application with distilled water. My sister broke 5 bones in her back in October after getting thrown from a horse. she also broke ribs. the doctors put her on opioid pain killers, strong ones and it didnt help the severe pain. So she researched alternaative pain killer and found out about DMSO. she uses it daily and stopped the pain pills. She says it is the only thing to stop the back pain. It is a miracle gel. They use it on sprains and other soft tissue injuries as well to get rapid healing and pain relief in the NFL and NHL and MLB and also use it on the top racing horses in the world on their leg injuries. Thats why you can find it at Tractor Supply in the horse section. It WORKS on deep back pain and aany kind of pain. Do this for yourself. God bless you. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 71254906 United States 01/16/2017 10:34 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You can do this yourself, but it is better / easier if someone else does it for you. On the leg that is affected by sciatica: With a tight (very tight grip) around the smallest part of your leg where your calf and your knee meet, grip and push downwards on your calf muscles. You want a firm (very firm) steady pressure on the calf muscles as you push them towards your foot. Push and hold for 60 to 90 seconds. This is a Chinese medicine / acupressure / kineseology technique that short circuits your nervous system and reroutes the signals for a time. For me, when my husband helps me, I get relief for about an hour or so. Another thing that really helps is massage. I have a 'sonic' massager and I turn it on and use it at the highest setting I can stand. And Doan's Back Pills. Arnica Gel -- rub it in! I do not get sciatica all the time, but when I do, I use the above things to help me deal with it when the pain is bad enough that I can't just ignore it. Sciatic pain runs in my family, unfortunately. |

You have a compressed nerve......a pinched sciatica nerve....and yes, I've experienced it.....It can ruin your life... See a doctor. Mine was caused by a compressed spinal disc in my lower spine....and yes, I got over it after time....it can heal itself..I eliminated my posture that aggravated the condition.... |

Usually worse left side, down back of left thigh. Sometimes left nut hurts like hell too. Sometimes can't get out of bed, stand or walk. I go to a chiropractor. He adjusts my "side posture" Take 3 Aleeve 2x's per day and don't do anything for probably 2 days before the swelling goes down. This is what I've found (over 30 years) that works Ice may help too, (but just aggravates me) |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 70015265 United States 01/16/2017 10:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yes, I have.. It got so bad that the nerve died. I have had atrophy in some parts of my leg and foot now for 20 years. The worst of the pain faded after 6 months. It was suicidal. Here is my sincere advice. If the pain has not gone below the knee, you are still fine. Walk as much as possible and stretch everyday. Avoid lifting anything heavy with your back and let the disk heal, and it will as long as you do not stress it. Walking is the very best therapy. Do it. Yes, I know it hurts.. but just do it. If the pain has gone below the knee, you are in serious trouble. Any pain will increase 1000X and it will be relentless. You will not sleep. You will do nothing but lay on the floor. You will not be able to walk more than 3 steps before falling down. No pain meds will cut it. Get to the doctor and demand treatment. Doctors love to send you home and dismiss this as an average sciatica. Too many suffer from mild sciatica and ham it up. Make sure they take you seriously. The sciatica is the longest nerve in the body so do not fuck around with it. |

This sucks, I'm afraid to go to sleep and wake up tomorrow. I have scoliosis...have had two discs rupture...one was pressing the sciatic nerve root...took 6 weeks of bed rest before I could walk. Maintenance has been swimming in warm water every day...it really has been the answer...it calms back spasms and I can stretch and do water aerobics without weight bearing...keeps me fit and weight down. Short term you probably need anti-inflamatories, I also had morphine and muscle relaxants...be careful though. My Doc told me that unless you can relief the pain the body will continue to contort with muscle spasms which were almost as painful as the nerve pain. Vicious cycle you have to break with some serious pain relief drugs. I am standing for my convictions just as you are standing for yours. So no need for either of us to take offense. |

This sucks, I'm afraid to go to sleep and wake up tomorrow. Too funny. Totally there. Hip flexor dislocated 4 times in 4 months. Extremely aggravated sciatic with it also hitting my lowest disc in my back which has also brought that to the point of rupture. Physio therapy weekly for the last 3 months. Use of Intra Muscular Stimulation with dry needling. 4 extra strength Advil a day. Lie flat on floor with head turned to left, lie in position for 15 minutes. After go on to your elbows and look upwards stay in position for 15 minutes. Finally dummy push ups with hips not leaving ground. Reps of 10. Do this every 2 hours while awake. I'm finally on week 4 of recovery and can start to just walk without a limp. Still a bit of a limp but definitely keeping up the routine. Use lots of heat, baths or heating pads. Keep it loose. No upright sitting or driving for extended periods! Lie down or stand up. |
