Guys, I am really bothered by my husband today. I’m going to my local women’s march and I asked him if he wanted to go. His reason for saying no is that he wants to go to the car dealership to look at a vehicle, and when I pressed him on it he said very mockingly “Do you need a man to speak out for your rights, or can you do it all by yourself?”. He thinks he was “joking”, but it was a very hurtful and cutting comment.

So while I’m out marching with other feminists to stand up for the rights of women and others who will suffer under Trump’s presidency, he’ll be at the gym with his two brothers and looking at cars to buy. The next four years will be business as usual for the menz, and I knew that, but I kind of thought my own spouse might back me on this.

WHAT MAN WOULD PUT UP WITH WOMEN LIKE THIS?

I'D BEAT THEM TO A PULP AND DIVORCE THEM PRONTO IF THEY ACTED LIKE THIS!

Why not “give him a chance”? Because he has not hidden the fact that he is a sexual predator, a misogynist, racist, classist demagogue. Because he has already taken steps toward repealing the ACA without so much of a HINT of a replacement, because he has already taken steps to deregulate the financial institutions that caused the 2008 crash, because he has publicly mocked the disabled, because he has already called anyone not in his political camp “the enemy”, the list goes on. He is past the point of giving chances, because he has ALREADY SHOWN US who he is and what he stands for. That’s why.

Yep, and it’s only going to get worse. My husband and I were hoping to buy a house sometime in the next 2-3 years. Looks like that’s not going to happen, possibly not even within 10 years depending on how badly this administration fucks up the economy and the housing market.
